i love this time of year. 01.01.2008 | personal

This week has been so relaxing and absolutely wonderful. I'm sad Christmas is over, but looking forward to next year already! The nice thing about my class schedule this year, is that we got out late for break (the 21st) but aren't returning until January 7th. I have the WHOLE week just to unwind, read, be with friends and family. I've been trying very hard not to think about classes, or upcoming exams; and I've been holding off on a lot of my computer work. But, I did manage to sneak in a couple of hours work over the last three days, working on updating my photocart as well as creating a few FAQ and User Guides for the Album Design process and ordering prints via our shopping cart.

Christmas Eve was wonderful, as always. We went to my Aunt Lyla and Uncle Steve's place. Look how beautiful it is! My Aunt has an interior design company and her house is so nice.

Just some family portraits before the night was over!

Christmas morning was beautiful, with just my small family and my grandma, starting off the morning with a late breakfast at 10 o'clock. We opened our gifts, then headed to the hospital to visit my Grandpa who has been sick for about six weeks.

My mom opening up her gifts, which included a diamond bracelet from my dad, and my dad: with his ties! Us women were joking saying, "What's the problem?" :) Diamonds for us, ties for you.

AND! On Christmas Day, after seventeen years of desperate prayers and a little bit of wishful thinking, it SNOWED!!! We had a WHITE Christmas. And it was everything the song "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" made it out to be. :) The drive to my (other) Aunt and Uncle's on Christmas Day in West Vancouver was absolutely beautiful, and even though it took us a half hour to even get on the highway, it was perfect.

crazy forty- + fifty- somethings. 01.01.2008 | personal

Last night we went to downtown Vancouver (which I only get to do once or twice a YEAR and absolutely love it!) and went to the Bay and walked around. :) The Bay down there is huge! 7 floors. We were hoping to go to a few other stores in a big mall like Holt Renfrew, but the whole place was closed! Only the Bay was open. Not as fancy as Holt Renfrew but it'll do. I didn't buy anything; but I did manage to finish off 1 and a half gifts I had left on my list.

While we were waiting in the till line-up, my dad started trying on hats. My aunt and uncle (My dad's sister and brother-in-law) were with us, and then they started trying on hats. Mostly it was just making fun of the fact that my Dad couldn't find one hat that looked good on him. Thankfully, for the world wide web, I had my small camera with me. Enjoy. :)

It started off a little crazy with the adults; then I had to jump in. Haha! These make me laugh so hard.

My uncle Steve looks so evil and hilarious in this shot.

Yup, we match.

My ears are ALWAYS cold; so when I saw these earmuffs with a new "behind-the-head" design, I had to try them out.

Tonight we're headed to my Aunt and Uncle's house after church for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner (well, the dinner isn't traditional. Last year it was Chinese take-out!) Let's make that a traditional evening, not dinner. But before that, we're attending my absolute FAVOURITE church service of the whole year, the one that I can't wait for. It's the Candlelight Christmas Eve service, and at one point, everybody in the whole place is holding a lit candle; it's GORGEOUS!

Enjoy your family traditions tonight, whatever they may be. And I wish you all a week of RELAXATION! (And reading!)
