Rachelle [Part 2] 01.01.2008 | portraits

Here's the second and final part of Rachelle Kostelyk's session! What a fun time we had. If you missed it, check out the first part of the session here as well as the post about the jewellery featured in her session. Once again, I've posted way too many images because I just couldn't choose. I think the multiple outfits makes it harder--I have a hard enough time keeping it to 20 photos or so on a wedding day when it's the same outfit all day long! Enjoy and have a beautiful weekend. P.S. Remember it was seriously at a freezing temperature the whole time we were shooting! Rachelle was incredible.

Rachelle is a pianoplayer, so this mural was perfect!

I love shooting indoors when there is lots of natural light. And I love coffeshops. So this location was pretty much a win-win for me.

How sweet are these doors?

I love this wide angle:

Legwarmers are definitely coming back in. These are SO cute!

And just for fun, a shot of Rachelle+I, as well as a few with Rachelle+Kerianne and Kerianne doing her assisting/wardrobe thing. :)

Showit Sites - Site of the Year! 01.01.2008 | personal

Ah!! I am SO BLESSED. I guess it was about a month ago that I was encouraged to enter the Show it Sites Contest, so I did and when the voting went up two weeks ago I was surprised to see I was already in the lead. The voting took place by the members of the OpenSourcePhoto Forum (which I talk about a lot!) and at the end of the week I had won as the Best Showit Site of 2008. How incredible is that? Thank you, thank you to all the photographers and OSP members who voted. Thank you also to all of the beautiful emails and @Twitter replies and facebook wall posts I have gotten just in the last hour this morning. I love reading all of them and just love you all so much! :)

David Jay, the creator of ShowitSites and the host of the contest, just sent out a newsletter this morning where the contest, and my website was featured. Thank you again DJ, for being such a giver and for always been so willing to help photographers in this industry. Have a beautiful day everyone!

Oh, a little reminder, In December I started a "every other month" newsletter that I create and send out to keep clients and photographers and friends alike updated. If you'd like to add your name, fill out the form below! Thank you! The February issue comes out in 3 days.

Rachelle [Part 1] 01.01.2008 | portraits

Last Wednesday was cold. Really cold. Well, you'd make fun of me if you lived in Northern or Eastern Canada, but for Vancouver, it was COLD. When I met Rachelle Kostelyk and her stylist/friend/assistant Kerianne at 10AM, the temperature was -2C (~30F) and me...being the Vancouver-girl that I am, I don't really have any winter coats. So I was in a T-shirt and a wool cardigan. I know, I know - I should invest in a coat. Next year, I will... (I've been saying this for the last 5!) Regardless of the weather, Rachelle was up for anything. We started way out in the 'burbs of Vancouver, and ended up right downtown--in total we were shooting for over six hours! Those six hours also included three mad dashes into three different coffeeshops to buy tea and coffee. Anything to warm our hands up before running back outside. Because it was such a long session, and Rachelle had so many different looks/locations I'm splitting this up into two posts for this week! After enjoying the photos below and maybe leaving a comment, go check out Rachelle Kosteylk's myspace for some of her music.
