Las Vegas III 01.01.2008 | uncategorized

So by now, you've all had enough of my Vegas posts, but this is the final part of three posts... a trilogy of Vegas posts! I just had so. much. fun at WPPI this year! It was my first time at the conference and I had such a blast. I was so blessed by so many blog readers and twitter followers that came up and said "Hi!" and gave me a hug. So great to meet new photographers! I've had a lot of people ask me the one or two things I took away from WPPI as a first-time attender and honestly, I would just say all the folks I got to meet! Just quick chats with a bunch of talented photographers and--most inspiring to me--incredible businesspeople was awesome. I only attended three platform speakers, and... two of which I didn't even stay for. However, on the last day I went to Jessica Claire's platform talk and it was so great! Jess is so adorable and has a great business head. But besides that, just spending time with my roomies, going out for great food and meeting new people was the best! I'm very much looking forward to next year already!!

I think this building, the MGM Signature, is pretty gorgeous. I was a pretty big fan of the nice Starbucks in there that had lots of seating and no line-up, ever... :)

Even though the Strip can be... quite frankly, disgusting, it's still kinda pretty!

Paris, Paris, one of my favourite cities (if not MY favourite city) in the world... not that this photo is of Paris...it's Vegas folks, but still. It reminds me of Paris and THAT is my happy place.

Abby and Kristen; looking cute!

Apparently I felt like giving some attitude in these photos. Hah!

Oh we're so fun.

Kristen and I are just really attractive. Face it.

A few beautiful faces at dinner: Cait, Jake, Christi, Abby, Kristen and Abby's brother Adam.

Megan & Greg | Desert Botanical Gardens, Arizona Wedding 01.01.2008 | weddings

When I knew that my family would be coming to Arizona for a week of vacation this February, I immediately emailed Melissa Jill. Melissa is an amazing photographer in Phoenix and I had the pleasure of meeting her for lunch last year when I was in Arizona. Last summer, I flew to San Francisco and met up with Melissa to second-shoot Taylor and Lisa's wedding. I was so excited when Melissa emailed and said she did have a wedding on February 21st and she'd love to have me along! The couple was Megan and Greg and the day was nothing short of fabulous. Seriously. I have never attended a more put-together, co-ordinated wedding. Victoria Canada and her co-ordination team was outstanding and they were all, literally, every where at every moment! There is a massive list of other vendors that you should definitely check out on Melissa's blog post.

I love the light and the colours in this one.

How cute are her red shoes? All the details of the day were red. Stunning.

Getting ready shots have to be some of my favourite! I think it's the anticipation. :)

Megan and Greg chose to have a First Look, which I LOVE! Before I was a wedding photographer, I cringed at the idea of seeing my husband before the ceremony, but after seeing how amazing these First Looks are--brides, it's the only way to go! It's an amazing time just for the bride and groom to share a few moments and tears and laughs together before the day gets all crazy. I love this shot of Greg; he was soooo excited.

Isn't this ADORABLE?

I think this was when Greg told her to spin and let him take a look!

Megan's bouquet was gorgeous! I loved all the different shades of red.

What's a wedding in Arizona without a cactus?

Check out the dress pockets!! Are you kidding me? How great is that!

This is such a favourite.

This was the biggest bridal party I had shot to date; eight on each side! Craziness, but oh so fun.

I love this casual, candid shot of the guys during the groomsmens photos.

These ceremony details: holy cow; from the custom invitations to the red roses down the aisle, to the amazing arch, topped off by a beautiful sunset? Gorgeous.

Hah!! How cute is this! Greg totally popped his leg during the kiss. ;)

Always one of my favourite wedding images. Always. The recessional--what a great moment.

These next few details shots don't even do the reception room justice. Please do yourself a favour and hop on over to Melissa's blog to see these details. Truly STUNNING!

Check out this fun little lounge area behind the reception hall. So classy.

Megan and Greg had their custom logo (seen on the invitation a few photos above) projected onto the dance floor. Such a nice detail!

Some fun random reception grabs to finish off the post.

Up On the Rooftop! | Vegas 01.01.2008 | portraits

I have enough photos to blog from Vegas that I could plaster every square inch of my walls in prints and still have to resort to sticking some on the ceiling. Which would be a problem, because... I can't reach the ceiling. I'd have to hire somebody to come and stick photos on the ceiling. Hmm.. Sometimes I think a little too far into hypothetical situations. Anyway, there's just one or two posts after this one, I promise! This post is about a fun little shoot we (Christi Ann, Cait Elizabeth, Kristen Leigh, Abigail Smith, Jacob Preedin, Andrew Barlow and I) had on the rooftop of a parking garage. It was a stunning day with some amazing blue skies! Although it was ridiculously windy, we made some fun photos and I had an amazing time with a beautiful group of people. Enjoy! The view from the top!

Fun little picture Jacob caught of Kristen admiring me. ;)

Another one thanks to Jake!

Me oh my, she's stunning.

A little action shot for y'all! (Cait and Christi taught me that. Y'all, that is.)

This is the result of the above!

Another action:

Another result:

So the wind was seriously blowing like cah-razyyy and I didn't have a hair elastic. It was hard to see with all this hair in my eyes, so Jake volunteered to hold my hair. I think I'll always bring along an assistant to do just that on windy days.

His hair-holding helped me shoot this:

We scored an escalator that was no longer moving. So great!

I was surrounded by redheads this trip: between Andrew Barlow and Abby Smith and her two brothers (Andrew and Adam Smith) we had four! Haha, I love it--and supposedly redheads are a minority? Pretty much half our group. ;)

Um, there was a joke all week that apparently I say, "HI!" a lot, really enthusiastically, and this picture kinda just fits that joke. I was leaning over an escalator while Jake was taking photos of Andrew below. This was my "HI!" face. The text really doesn't do it justice. When you see me in person, ask me to impersonate. Okay, deal.

And THIS, folks, is the Jamie Delaine face. Or so Cait tells me. She was perfecting it before she met me. Big cheeks, squinty eyes, big smiles.

Cait, rocking it out!!
