Pickin' Strawbs 01.01.2008 | personal

I've settled in nicely with Caitln Butt's family as of last night. My plane arrived in at 8 o'clock night yesterday to Raleigh, and I was picked up by Christi and Cait. Sooo nice to see them again and I think we didn't stop talking the whole way home. The countryside here is stunning... like woah. So green. It reminds me of Georgia a little bit! The tree-lined highways. Also, we found this sah-weet radio station, full of R&B hits. Side note: I used to despise Top 40 or anything R&B. Then I spent time with Sarah Barlow and now... I kinda love it. Yeah, that's right. I ain't ashamed.

My new favourite song is Kiss Me Thru The Phone by Soulja Boy. Gosh, I just admitted that. Well at least I'm past the denial stage. I LOVE that song. Especially the part where he says, "Baby you so sexy, your voice is so lovely. I love your complexion. I miss ya, I miss ya, I miss ya, I really wanna kiss you can't." Hahah, okay, trust me, it's great. So, we texted in on three different cell phones to request this song and they played it! Whoop, whoop! So I highly enjoyed that. This morning we slept in until 8:45... which is only 5:45 PST and I'm pretty much exhausted. But it's all good. We headed on over to a strawberry farm and spent some time pickin'! They were so fabulous--the strawberries that is.

My mom saw these chairs and told me to carry two of them back on the plane with me. I don't think I could swing that.

Cait has five siblings, here are the two youngest: David and Mikayla!

Prettttty.

Christi took my camera and snapped some shots of me eating a strawb. That's the cool abbreviation for strawberries. Obvs you should know that. Thanks for taking these Chris, I love how they turned out. :)

Self-portrait fab.

P.S. I told Cait when I woke up this morning that "Hey, I try to blog about five times a week, but I've been doing well so I'm NOT going to blog today." -- And here I am. Blogging. It's an addiction folks. Have a lovely Wednesday!

First Things First, Make Your Bed 01.01.2008 | personal

I often reiterate how much I love my city but have I ever mentioned how much I love my airport?! YVR is so lovely in every way. Besides the fact that it's about an hour's drive away from my house and not that convenient to get to, once you get here it's lovely! Free wi-fi. Enough said, right? I've had enough of paying $10 an hour for internet everywhere I travel. I love that I get to enjoy the net for free before I leave my city. That's exactly what I'm doing right now. Sitting in the airport, at 5:45AM. I was up at 3:30AM this morning.. correction, my alarm was set for 3:30AM.

My mom comes in at 4:00AM and says, "JAMIE! GET UP!" -- I say, Huh? And jump out of bed automatically, while simultaneously making my bed (I'm not kidding. I have never left the house without making my bed. Ever.) and shutting off my blaring alarm clock--how I missed the alarm I have no idea. Fifteen minutes later, we're in the car. The sun is just rising now over the mountains and it's gorgeous. Reason #184 why I love Vancouver. Today I fly from Vancouver to Seattle to Chicago to Raleigh. In 12 hours, I'll be greeted by the beautiful Cait Elizabeth.

I'll be staying with Cait, her five siblings and her parents for two days when I'll be shooting her Senior portraits one day and their family pictures the next! I'm super excited to see Cait again, it's been two and a half months since WPPI and Vegas where we stayed together. It will be a lovely time! I have a lot of Seattle photos to blog from my quick trip there on Thursday, but here's a sneak peek of the gorgeous farmland on the way to the US border from British Columbia.

Happy Tuesdayyyy!

Charlie, Abby & Victoria | Family 01.01.2008 | portraits

Victoria and I have been corresponding for a couple of months now about some photographs of her two beautiful children, Charlie and Abby and their two dogs Maurice and Millie. Maurice is an absolutely beautiful six-year old Bernese Mountain Dog and they recently bought another Bernese puppy, who they named Millie. I'm a facebook friend of Victoria's and the pictures poppin' up in my news feed of the two dogs together were SO stinking cute. Couldn't even stand it!

We had a session date all ready to go, and then Maurice broke his leg! He had a bright blue cast on for a few weeks. Thankfully he recovered from that, but unfortunately the family found out just last week that Maurice has cancer. We are all praying for Maurice to recover as he's very weak right now (he just had his spleen removed.) Victoria wanted some photos in their backyard, as it would be the easiest for Maurice and I was more than happy to drive out to their city. I had actually never been to this area before so it was a beautiful drive and I'm so glad I was able to do this for them. It was a beautiful sunny day and just a lovely session all the way around.

Oh I just love dogs.

Millie, the puppy who no longer looks like a puppy but has grown up SO fast, has an incredible amount of energy. She's jumping around all over and is bigger than Charlie when she stands up. :)

These two are really sweet together!

Believe me when I say we attempted quite a few shots to get one with both dogs attentive. ;)

Ohh this is such a favourite.

We put Millie in the house to calm her down, but I love how she's in the window anyway!
