PYNT - Pretty, Young, NEW, Thing! 01.01.2008 | personal

I have to admit, new things excite me. I'm a constant dreamer, planner, thinker and I'm never satisfied with where my work and my art is at. That's kinda why I find it hard to rest. ;) Gotta get better, gotta get better, right? I love what I do! I've been cookin' up some wonderful new things behind the scenes for the past three months. As I check this and this and then this off of my list--it's been KILLING me to not launch it all. The deadline kept being pushed forward as little things came up and I'm sooo excited that the time has come. It's all here!

First of all, I have a fabulous new promo video by Erik Anderson of Love Story Media. He accompanied me to Laura & Darren's Vancouver Engagement Session back in June. (& If you haven't already, you must check out their Performance Works Wedding, one of my favourites of the season!) My new promo video is featured on the "about" section of the new blog, and on my website. Also to be noted is that the motion graphics at the beginning of the video were created by the insanely talented Kyle Richtsfeld. I love the extra flair they add. Check out the video below!

Next up! A blog face-lift. Not exactly a new blog, because the great team at Flosites just did a few little tweaks and streamlined the design: which I love oh-so-much. It's very me, and I'm in love with it. If you're viewing the post from your Google Reader account, CLICK HERE to see the blog in all it's glory. Including rotating header (changes every ten seconds) with new images of me taken by Sarah Barlow. Thanks Sarah!

And the next thing is my new logo/colours. My lovely lovely logo which I adore was designed by David Somerville: thanks so much for your help in this process David! It's clean. Simple. Sophisticated. Still fun. So... ME, once again. The new colours of yellow and gray (along with keeping my old light blue) are also a new part of my brand. They just make me so happy.

FINALLY, I've re-designed my Showit Site which you can check out by clicking HERE. I cannot say enough about how much I love David Jay for creating ShowitSites. Fabulous, fabulous program that has helped me design (and re-design) the exact website I want. I love how easily I can incorporate video and other media elements into my website! I also have to mention Kyle Richtsfeld's crazy motion graphics talent--he created the fifteen-second intro video you see when you first enter my site.

So that's that!
Done and done.
Check and mark.
What project shall I tackle next? ;)
Enjoy all the pretty new things!

Vancouver Portrait Photography | Shawna & Paul 01.01.2008 | engagements, portraits

Shawna and Paul recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary together in downtown Vancouver. They left their two beautiful boys, Jacob and Cole, at their parent's house and lived it up in the city like the single couple they once were. ;) Fortunately for me, their visit to Vancouver co-incided with a 1-on-1 Photographer Mentor session I was having with Kim Kalyn. Shawna and Paul offered their adorableness to us so I could demonstrate how I scout locations, pose my subjects and do what I do.

Shawna reminds me of myself: I think that's why I like her so much. We can both be little spitballs of fire. Determined. Family-minded. Creative. Shawna, unlike me, is also kind of a domestic queen. She amazes me with all she does! You simply must check out her blogand her wedding cake business. AND every now and then she says something that makes me laugh ridiculously.

Shall I tell you their story: Shawna and Paul? Okay. I shall. Ten years ago, Shawna's mom walked into her bedroom and said to her eighteen-year-old daughter, "I have a pretty good feeling you're going to meet your husband. Soon." I would be full of questions if I had been Shawna, but that night, Shawna atttended a new bible study and met a man named Paul. Paul was funny, charming, one of the sweetest guys in the world... and two years later, they were wed. It's been seven years and two children: they are still in love and lookin' good doing it. (If you need evidence: scroll down.)

Their wedding date is September 21st. :) Yeah. I'm that good. ;)

She's got great hair. As you can see. ;)

Looooove!

Vancouver Portrait Photography | Warriner Family 01.01.2008 | portraits

Five years ago, my family switched churches and found ourselves at Southgate Church. One of the families we met within our first year there, were the Warriners. This bubbly, happy, goooood-lookin' family of five. Their oldest child, Kelsey, was closest to me in age (although she's a year older!) and we've been "friends" for the past five years. I say "friends" because it wasn't until last Fall when Kelsey and I realized that we were MFEO. (Sleepless in Seattle reference, anyone?) -- translation: Made For Each Other. We then became FRIENDS. To the end.

As a youth leader, I've gotten to know Kelsey's two siblings a little bit more, Tyrone as he plays bass for our youth band, and Emma who is in my girl's lifegroup. What a quality group of kids. Cliff and Esther have such a fun relationship and I just LOVE hanging out with these five. They live on a gorgeous acreage in the cutest little farmhouse. That's where I shot these photos last week. ;) I smiled while I was editing these and I laughed while I was takin' em. Good times all around.

Kelsey says, "HEY! We have a bathtub in our backyard!" I said,"Let's use it!"

Dad-falling. Totally normal.

At the end of the session, I needed some good old-fashioned dancing a la Southgate Youth. It's pretty impressive.

YEP.
