Christmas this year was one of my favourites. I enjoyed the entire season (starting with my first listen of ”O Come All Ye Faithful” all the way back in October and finishing up with a New Year’s Day hangout) more then ever before. To me, Christmas shouldn’t mean stress and malls and presents and living up to the “expectations” of what celebrating should look like. My Christmas was full of people: quality time with family, evenings spent watching chick flicks, hours spent playing cards, ice skating with friends downtown, a formal youth banquet, lots of coffee and lots of time spent reading.
Christmas Eves are the main event in the Peterson fam. For years and years, we’ve always gone to my Aunt Lyla’s apartment. When she got married ten years ago, we started going to Lyla and Steve’s house. Some years, we’ve ordered chinese food. Other years, we’ve had appetizers. This year, we had roast chicken. The meal changes, but the people and the location? Always stays the same. Christmas Eve was beautiful — and Christmas Day equally as lovely — shared with my family and seven new friends we invited into our home.
I love Christmas more & more every year!
