I woke up at the very ungodly hour of 4:30AM on Saturday morning, to start the travel to the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia for the wedding of Nathan and Paula. Thankfully I did have some company for the hour drive, hour line-up and hour ferry ride. Eileen Whitmore came with me and served as my wonderful second shooter and assistant for the day! Thanks Eileen! Nathan and Paula’s wedding day was unique in so many ways: for one, it was on Paula’s grandparents summer home which has a massive amazing view of the Pacific Ocean in all its glory. Incredible. You could literally hear the waves crashing during the ceremony. Nathan and Paula also chose not to have a bridal party, because they both had too many friends to decide which to include/exclude! The day was relaxed, fun and full of some incredible incredible food. Nathan and Paula also had raspberry sorbet as part of the dessert buffet–I think I like these two. :)
I loved this idea; it totally tied in their beachy theme.
Paula and her dad walking down the aisle.
You can’t tell by this photograph, but the whole ceremony looked out on the ocean, right behind the arch. Amazing!
Paula has the cutest laugh!
Ceremony close-ups have to be some of my favourite shots. I love all the emotion you can catch. It truly is the most “candid” emotional moment of the day.
After the ceremony, we walked down to the beach for some more photos.
I love this shot that my second shooter Eileen captured. Such a great angle!
I saw this fence and those weeds and knew I needed to use this spot! I said to Paula, How do you feel about sitting down in your dress on the ground here? I love brides who are up for it!
We had some amazing skies.
I love the locations we found, I don’t think I’ve had a wedding with this much variety before.
One of my favourites!
So sweet. This was completely unposed. Paula is due with her and Nathan’s first child in January and they are both so excited for it to come.
Some glances during the speeches.
Paula and Nathan also decided against a head table, or even a sweetheart table, but rather sat with their friends! Love it.
Their first dance to “These Are the Days” by Van Morrison…anybody who has their first dance to a Van Morrison song is a friend of mine. Who else is just in LOVE with his voice?
