Family & Newborn Photos

Shane, Rachael & Aviya

Yesterday, I had the privilege of photographing an amazing family: Shane, Rachael and their 12-day-old baby girl named Aviya Miracle Deborah. Her name means “God is my Father” and as Rachael recounted to me yesterday, “He certainly is her Father.” Shane and Rachael tried to have kids for over five years and when it wasn’t happening for them, God started to stir their hearts towards adoption. Their best friends put together an incredible adoption fundraiser for them this past May at church. Randy and I attended and it was such a beautiful night celebrating this couple and the start of their journey to adopt a child from Florida – boy or girl, age didn’t matter, they just wanted a child of their own. I was so inspired by their faith and their courage. Rachael expressed that evening how they were still believing to have a biological child of their own – but God’s plans for the present would be adoption.

Six days later, after almost¬†six years, they became pregnant with their first child. It was amazing. When I saw their announcement instagram a few months later I said aloud, “Oh my gosh!!” and was so thankful for the blessing of this child. Their adoption plans are temporarily on hold for obvious reasons (a newborn!) but they are still committed to adopting sometime in the future. Enjoy these images, I loved creating them!

  • Hi Jamie! Just wondering if you used a flash in this maternity session? Or was it all manual metering work with natural lighting?
