Portrait Sessions

Comox Valley Photographer

My husband spent all of his years “pre-Jamie” on Vancouver Island. Although he was born in Surrey, he was raised in Victoria before moving North Island to Courtenay/Comox area. Some of my greatest memories thus far with Randy have been on visits home to Courtenay. It’s the city I fell in love with him – it’s where I knew I’d marry him someday. We visited last year in June for the first time, having been dating for only a month. We also managed to make it to Courtenay in August and then in December twice. Every time, we spend greater amounts of quality time with the people Randy cares about most. I love seeing where he comes from and meeting the faces that made him the man he is today. Brent & Carlee are two of those reasons.

Randy met the Ayley family almost three years ago, a season where he was looking for new community. He started attending a weekly home group with Brent and Carlee and a few other couples and continued to grow in close relationship with their family and their three kids. Which turned into four kids about two months after Randy met this beautiful family. Although we live almost a six-hour journey apart, Brent and Randy have a deep, solid friendship – one that is squeezed in on the phone, commuting to work, driving home at the end of a long work day – ten minutes here and there. It’s been a joy to get to know this family, as well, with now being a part of Randy. We genuinely wish we were next door neighbours… but three times a year is better that no times a year.

A long time dream of Brent & Carlee’s, ever since moving from big-city Calgary to small-town Vancouver Island was to own a property in the country. For the last two years, they’ve lived in this beautiful home on three acres of property about fifteen minutes outside of town. The time has come for them to move, having outgrown this little three-bedroom, one-bathroom home. When I heard they were moving, I knew I wanted to create these photos for them. Enjoy.

An inside scoop on the dialogue while Brent made endless jokes as they walked… from Carlee – “Oh my gosh, I’m married to an idiot.” At least she looks happy about it.
