Marriott Pinnacle Hotel Wedding

Allison and Patrick’s wedding day last Saturday was a long one – almost 12 hours of coverage – but an incredible one. Over the course of their engagement, I’ve gotten to know Allison and Patrick a little bit better! Between their engagement session, our Facebook interactions and emails back and forth I can now call these two people friends! Even recently at my “Jamie Delaine Brides Nail Night,” Allison and I ended up sitting right next to one another. I so enjoyed hearing about the final two weeks of wedding plans and it’s surreal it’s all over.

Allison and her two bridesmaids started the day getting ready at her parents’ home in Maple Ridge. Allison is a fashion designer and I had high expectations of her dress and overall “look!” She exceeded it! ;) Allison’s dress was incredible. It fit her like a glove. I mean, look, look how tiny her waist is. And her necklace! I wore a chunky/statement pearl necklace for my wedding, so obviously I am bias to statement pieces over dainty ones. Allison rocked her necklace, picked out and purchased by her Dad. Good fashion sense must run in the family.

Something I adored about Patrick & Allison’s wedding ceremony was the focus on their faith. They both love God whole-heartedly and had unique touches to their ceremony. The whole crowd sang along to three different songs and Allison and Patrick took turns reading scripture. The pastor encouraged the couple to think of their life’s goal as loving one another. Patrick, when someone asks you what you do, don’t answer “Engineer,” answer “I love Allison!” Those words have stuck with me and I think it’s a simple but valuable concept in our culture today.

Other notable details of the day: Allison’s bridesmaid made Allison’s red Chinese dress. It fit her so well. She was stunning during their tea ceremony. The calligraphy on the bottom of her tea ceremony shoes was also a cute detail! During the reception, both Allison and Patrick were subject to some pretty ridiculous games. (Mainly at Patrick’s expense.) The MC’s got ahold of their hotel room key and locked it in a box. To unlock the box, they had to complete a series of challenges. (Hence the leopard underwear and leaves in the photos below. There was also a game involving baby food.) Both these two were good sports – and yes they “won” their hotel room key back.

Allison and Patrick, here’s an incredible marriage! Thank you for choosing me as your photographer!

Oh, look! It’s me! Thanks for asking for a photo, Allison!

This couple was so sweet. They came up to me and introduced themselves during the reception and said “We got married a couple years ago and wish you were our photographer! If you could take a picture of us, we can say we have been photographed by Jamie Delaine!” I loved it.
