in all its wonder.
oh, hello! i’m sitting at a little starbucks in the town of belfair, wa near the hood canal. it’s a little town of about seven hundred people. i’ve been here since saturday night with my family, two of my cousins, my aunt&uncle and close family friends. we have rented a beautiful three-bedroom house with a private beach and a little dock floating way out there on the water. we brought our boat down for the week. my favourite part of the day is watching my dad try to get in the little dinghy boat without getting wet. then he pushes himself off the shore and paddles out to the boat anchored out from shore. then he has to maneuver himself from the dinghy into the boat. then tie the dinghy up. always makes me laugh.
the week before family vacation i was at creationfest in enumclaw, wa. i camped, folks! i camped! only once before in my life had i been camping without running water/flushing toilets. only once. not a woodswoman, sorry. ;) in the four days, i showered once. i slept in a tent every night in a sleeping bag and i brushed my teeth with water from a water bottle! hardcore. i enjoyed good friends, so much laughter that i literally fell to the ground on one occasion, lots of sun—i have a tan! stop the press!—and basking in the amazing creativity of my God. beautiful creation, talented musicians—i’m so inspired by it all. some of my favourite things include laughing until my stomach hurts, driving down a highway for hours at a time, listening to great music and eating lots of fruit. all of those things happened last week. it was wonderful.
i’m back in town for the weekend before jetting off to california on tuesday. in the meantime, however, i plan to return to our cabin, spend the afternoon reading the bible, journaling, finishing up the book i started last night and enjoying… life. in all it’s wonder.

I had such a great time. Loved spending time with you! :) Enjoy Cali!
hi josh…looks like you had lots of fun. wish i had been there!!
Looks like you had an awesome time! But man–no running water? Ahh! I applaud you. That’s something I could never do ;)
i lied. we had some running water. showers. with a long line. but, no running water near our campground. ;)
good times! I too, LOVE laughing until my stomach hurts :) I have always wanted to go to creation but have never made it – maybe next year!
jamie, you’re in my neck of the woods! i live near enumclaw and my family have a couple of houses in hood canal near alderwood resort. you should check out alderwood if you haven’t already. it’s beautiful!
Sweet. That would have been awesome to go to. My brother went (I definitely don’t envy the 20 hour ride they had there). I heard all about the showers though, or really, lack thereof (he said he had one in the back of a semi with a garden hose, hmm).
@chantel – hilarious! it’s so fun. but that drive? NAH. fly to seattle… drive to enumclaw! hah! jonah – sweet! we’re not in enumclaw anymore, we’re about an hour and a half away in belfair now.
Awesomness. :-)
