Our Love Story
IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMASSSSSS!!! This is an exciting day and the start of an exciting season for the Watson family. Back in April, My husband Randy started a new job a week after our honeymoon. He was a general contractor, and a dang good one at that, for the last six years. But, out of the blue offered a position in another industry. It looked very appealing from the outside – lots of promising things about the new career. We went for it.
So he started working in a house moving company (think TLC’s Massive Moves) as a crew member and safety supervisor. Without a doubt, thee most stressful part of our “first year of marriage” has been his job. I have watched my husband, for months, wake up at 4:45am to leave the house by 5am… rarely returning before 5:30 or 6:00pm. I would say his average work week was 55 hours. One week, he worked SEVENTY NINE HOURS in 5 days. That’s almost 16 hours daily. Randy has always had manual labour/active jobs… but this one takes the cake. This career has literally controlled our lives and every part of his energy level and capacity. On more than one occasion, we’d find out with 12-24 hours notice that he was going away for the week to work somewhere. Honestly, some parts of it were devastating.
BUT it’s OVER.
Randy starts a new job in 2015 as a partner with an awesome general contracting company. They believe in Randy’s project management, leadership and creativity – but best of all his passion and his heart. I’m so thrilled to watch Randy do what he loves again. When he’s happy, I’m happy. We are smiley and bright-eyed about the potential next year holds. YESSSS! Today feels so good.
Next week is Christmas and we’ll be on Vancouver Island visiting Randy’s Mom and Brother for a couple days. In January, we’re spending another 10 days on Vancouver Island (Victoria, Courtenay then Tofino) with friends and family. In February, we’re off to New Zealand! What an adventure we have ahead of us… <3
Enjoy our very first Christmas home photos!
