Let Us Never Grow Weary of Doing Good

The Story Behind the Shop

It has been so encouraging to launch The School Sessions last week and see the response! In just 11 days of being LIVE, we have over 160 photographers signed up! We estimate we need 600 photographers to reach our goal… so we have a way to go! But we are dedicated and motivated to reach it and we have been blown away by the photographers who have jumped on board and shared The School Sessions on instagram, facebook, twitter, emails, messages, thank you, thank you!

Today, I wanted to share a little bit of the story behind our The School Sessions shop and products. We knew we wanted to make a “physical” product available to participants and supporters of our cause. I had the idea of including the first part of the verse found in Galatians 6:9, “Let us never grow weary of doing good.” I felt God speak that verse to my heart very early on in the planning process and knew they were words I wanted written on my heart.

Our friend Michael had the idea of somehow incorporating the kids into the creation of the poster. Our team put our brains together and decided to bring a big piece of unstretched canvas to Haiti with blue and white acrylic paint – to create two shades of blue. Every student at ECCA put their hands in blue paint and pressed their handprints onto the canvas. When we were done, the canvas was covered with hands and looked like this!

From there, we commissioned Corina Nika for her gorgeous hand-lettering. We are so thankful for her donation! She hand-lettered the verse in black and we used photoshop to combine the hands-canvas into the letters. The background of every letter you see here, features the hands of ECCA students. Pretty neat hey? You can see the process in the video below!

From Corina’s hand-lettering, we created posters, tote bags, women’s t-shirts, men’s t-shirts and coffee mugs. Everything you purchase in the shop, 100% of proceeds will go right towards The School Sessions building project!

P.S. I have two t-shirts… and I’m in love. I bought them before we decided which products to make sure we’d like them. I’ve slept in them, worked out in them, worn them all day while I work. Very soft material. I bought a medium and it is a looser fit! (Jen, in the photo below is wearing a medium. My husband Randy (grey shirt) is wearing a Men’s large.)

What are you waiting for? Go buy something! :)
