Engagement Session

Crab Park Engagement Photos

Oh goodness, I had a lot of fun with Kourtney and Dexter a couple evenings ago in Vancouver! Kourtney filled out the contact form on my website in November and I remember getting the notification and smiling. I turned to Randy in the driver’s seat and said, “Randy! I have to read this to you. I’m so excited.”

Under date and venue, Kourtney typed, “WHENEVER YOU ARE AVAILABLE!” and at Fraser River Lodge. (The best venue everrrr. I mean, if you like gorgeous mountain views, peaceful country side, awesome staff, organic local food and a rustic space!) I couldn’t believe it when Kourtney wrote she had been following my work for over six years. She said when she met her now-fiance Dexter, “your name was a household name for us. He knew Jamie would be our photographer – no discussion. 5 years later, and we’re finally engaged and I am ecstatic to be writing to you. You’re our first stop to sort out a date.” How could I not be excited? Such a crazy honour to have blog readers turn into clients.

Kourtney and Dexter shared a cute story about how they met during their third year of university in Kamloops. Through friends, Kourtney had met Dexter’s brother and somehow it came up that Dexter (who Kourtney had never met!) was in her Psychology class. The word got back to Dexter and he sent Kourtney an introduction message. The next week, she went to her night class with her stomach in knots. Halfway through the class and still no sign of Dexter, although she tried her best to look over her shoulder at the students around her.

After a break, students were filtering back in the doors for the lecture and Kourtney found her seat. Before the professor started talking, a chair was pulled up beside her. It was Dexter, “Hi! You’re Kourtney?” She remembers “feeling like I was bundled up in a parka in 40 degree weather. Suddenly, it seemed that I had forgotten how to form a 1 word response.” Hah! I love that. On Dexter’s side of things, he remembers sitting down beside her and realizing not only was Kourtney “beautiful, she was funny, smart, caring and independent, among so many other things. I knew she was a catch. The rest is history.”

The week later, Dexter made a move, asking to study together. Studying turned into more hangouts and eventually a first date… and five years later, Dexter asked Kourtney to be his wife! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be their photographer. Enjoy the photos!!

This is Griffey, their Wheaton Terrier! I’m a total dog person so I love including furry friends in engagement sessions. He was adorable and reminded me so much of our Harley!

For the second location, we found a great area with plenty of brick, colour walls and fun textures. Love this set!

Hahah, as I said, I’m a dog lover, so I decided to include this picture of Griffey. He decided to shake his head halfway through the ‘walk’ and this picture is hilarious to me.

Enjoy every minute of this engagement season, you guys!! Can’t wait to be there in September.
