Engagement Session

Ambleside Park Engagement Photos

Carman and Tommy met for the first time in December of 2013 through a mutual friend of theirs, over bubble tea with friends. A few months later, the pair connected on Facebook and Carman began to notice Tommy liking a vast percentage of her photos and posts. ;) She decided to reach out to Tommy and invite him to an event at her church. Afterwards, a group of her friends went biking throughout Stanley Park. Somehow, Carman and Tommy ended up biking together alone, and thoroughly enjoying their conversation with one another.

Soon, their group hangouts turned into phone calls late into the evening. Carman remembers thinking how strange it was – how fast time flew when she was talking to Tommy! By the end of the month (since the group bike!) Tommy had asked Carman out for a glass of wine and confessed his feelings to her. A year and a half later, Tommy proposed to Carman on September 23 (her birthday) and the two started planning their wedding together. :)

I’m so delighted to be Carman and Tommy’s wedding photographer. They are part of the brilliantly, wonderful circle of friends of Rebecca and Kenneth and I can’t thank them enough for the continuing referrals! For this specific one, I have to thank Jady and Doug, whose engagement session I shot just a few weeks ago! They shared about their photographer with their sister, who’s friends with Tommy!

We started the session in Ambleside Park in West Vancouver. I really loved shooting here with Carman and Tommy! They seriously had the best attitudes about the rain. The forecast looked so crappy (I feel like a broken record in these blog posts lately, but seriously, almost every day has been forecasted rain lately, haha!) – but just in time to shoot, CLOUDS! And no rain! It was amazing. I so appreciate their flexible attitudes, it makes all the difference. And yay for no umbrellas!

Carman and Tommy absolutely love the Vancouver landscape and the very “northwest” vibe to this area. I loved it, too! Tommy used to live a few blocks away and spent lots of his time in this park.

Love the little glimpse of Stanley Park in the background.

After a quick drive to North Vancouver and a change of clothes, Tommy and Carman were ready to embrace the falling rain on the pier near Lonsdale Quay. ;)

Obsessed with how Carman’s red shoes popped in the gray/white feel of the shoot.

How cute are they? We started seeing red elements everywhere in the background too, which was amazing.

Congrats, you two! Cannot wait to be your photographer next year!
