Terminal City Club Wedding

Renata and Marc were married this past Saturday at the gorgeous Terminal City Club in the heart of downtown Vancouver. I was excited to see these two get married – they have the sweetest story. Truly, ‘fate’ Renata + Marc met when they did and fell in love. (You can read their story on their engagement session post.)

There are a few things that stand out about Renata and Marc’s wedding:

1) The joy and peace on Renata’s face during the exchange of the vows. 2) The incredible speeches from both the Best Man and Maid of Honour. So touching, so genuine, seriously… they brought the house down with the guests applause!

3) The wedding slideshow!! It was the BEST! You know how the slideshows show the bride growing up, the groom growing up, then the two of them together. When it got to the ‘couple’ part, Renata and Marc had recorded an amazing lip sync to Queen’s “I Was Born to Love You.” Marc was sporting the best, thick mustache and a wife-beater tank top and Renata was just looking beautiful, as always. They were on the beach in Vancouver, just giving ‘er to the lyrics. The reception loved it. It was absolutely amazing.

One of my favourite things about marriage is how nobody else but your spouse can truly see ‘you.’ Those secret parts of you. What a gift it is to have a spouse who knows all those things, who you can truly be yourself with. That’s what that video meant to me! It was a glimpse into how silly and fun Renata and Marc are. It made me crazy happy.

Final thing I loved? 4) The Brazilian Samba dancer! This was a surprise for all of the guests. Renata was born in Brazil and only recently immigrated to Canada. There were many bittersweet parts about the wedding for this reason. I’m sure Renata never pictured a Canadian wedding, never pictured being so far away from many family and friends she would have loved to have been there. But when the dancer came out, you could feel her joy. It was a part of her wedding culture, brought to Canada and it was perfect. The performance was electric, it was the coolest thing to witness.

Wow, I wrote a lot! But I wanted to do my best to give you all a feel for the day if you couldn’t be there!! Enjoy the photos!

That ‘just married’ look in your eyes!

Renata said she’s been dreaming of wedding photos in Gastown for a few years now… glad I could deliver! ;)

I forgot another thing I loved! Make it #5! Renata and Marc’s First Dance reminded me of the final dance in Silver Linings Playbook. It started as a normal slow dance to Michael Buble, then hit a remix! Clips of 4-5 other songs played and they switched up the styles of each dance. Then, they went back to normal, to Michael Buble to finish the dance. It was amazing.

Seconds after they finished their First Dance… the dancer entered!!

So sweet. Ah! It was a joy to be here, I hope it was a joy to look at the images!
