Fort Langley Wedding

Maddy & Ryan’s wedding day was an amaaaazing day. I had been looking forward to this day, well, basically before M+R even booked me, or I knew they were engaged. I’ve known M+R for nearly 4 years now, and it was so clear to see from the beginning of their relationship, they were meant to be together for life. They’ve faced a lot of challenges over the last handful of years together–cancer in Maddy’s body, anxiety, and a break-up.

Through it all, they have had immense joy – both individually and together as a couple. Maddy and Ryan are giving, caring, fun-loving people and a clear match even five minutes after you meet them. I’m honoured they chose me as their photographer – it was a total JOY to capture their wedding day.

The moment you walked into the ceremony space at Fort Langley Community Hall you were greeted by twinkly lights, warm glow of candles, rich red roses and lots of greenery. It was the perfect, cozy contrast to the near-freezing rainy weather outdoors. Ryan saw Maddy for the first time as she walked down the aisle, and he nearly dropped to his knees in shock, haha!

They wrote their own vows, exchanged rings and walked out as husband and wife to Bruno Mars singing “24K.” We braved the rain with the wedding party, armed with multiple umbrellas, of course. Despite the rain and the wet ground, everyone did amazing—even the bridesmaids and their poor dresses… they were sopping wet. I know M+R will be so thankful for their amazing attitudes.

After letting the wedding party go warm up at the venue, we walked throughout Fort Langley around dusk with just M+R. I had location scouted this amazing storefront earlier in the week… and I cannot believe how much I love these images. I basically kept thinking all day, “I sure hope winter weddings continue to get more popular, because this beats summer any day.” (Obviously in my also-got-married-in-winter opinion…. hahah!)

Their reception was a blast – tons of good food and drinks, a beautiful cake, a sundae bar, endless donations to Maddy and Ryan’s ‘kissing jar’ which made for great candids. To wrap it all up, an amazing dance party that I heard went for a solid couple hours after I left!

Maddy + Ryan, so so happy for you two. Thank you for picking me as your photographer – that was the #bestdayever.
