As I was writing my May 18th post a few days ago, I remember thinking about typing, “I never dreamed all this would happen in one year.” I didn’t end up writing that because I have to confess… I did.
I dream big. I dream a lot. And I’m learning to do so a little more unashamedly. I’m not sure I verbalized those dreams at the beginning of my career… perhaps for fear of looking stupid or childish. But inside my heart, I did dream about getting published (specifically in Real Weddings, one of my favourite BC Bridal magazines) and in November I got to see one of my weddings in print: Kristina and Marshall’s wedding in Urban Wedding Magazine. I was still dreaming for having a wedding published in Real Weddings magazine.
I was notified in April that one of my images from Alanna and Stanley’s Granville Island engagement session had been selected to appear in a “Will You Marry Me?” feature in the Spring/Summer issue of Real Weddings magazine. Woo! I was so excited when I got the call from Lara, the editor in charge of my submission.
The amazing thing about dreaming big is even if you don’t reach your goal right away you reach so many fun ones along the way. My big goal was a wedding in Real Weddings, but I first reached Urban Wedding and then an engagement image in Real Weddings. Watch out for a wedding published in that magazine in Fall 2009 or in 2010… I’m not afraid to dream. ;)
