vanessa has been a friend of mine since i was twelve years old & one of the “new kids” at pacific academy. we were in the same grade eight class the next year & i remember many-a field trips and science projects with vanessa. to be honest, the rest of our school years together, including high school from grade 9 – 12, are a blur. it seems like an eternity while you’re in school—but life goes by so fast. [praise the Lord for that, couldn’t wait to graduate and get out of those high school doors!] vanessa & i both attended trinity western at the end of 2008, after we graduated high school. we spent that semester meeting in between classes for smoothies in the “lower caf” and driving to wendell’s for coffee in fort langley. since i’ve left university, we’ve managed to stay in touch with monthly coffees. i’m so glad because she’ll soon be moving to australia. yep.
let’s talk about vanessa’s man: craig. craig went to the same high school as us but he’s four years older—grade 8s and grade 12s don’t usually mix. ;) craig was friends with vanessa’s two older sisters from high school and they met for the first time in 2007. every summer vanessa’s family travels to osoyoos [a popular vacation spot in BC] where they spend the majority of the hot months. the year after vanessa graduated, craig’s family was coming up to osoyoos as well. craig needed a ride up from vancouver as his family had gone a few days before & vanessa offered. vanessa & craig had met a couple of times before this but for the first time, they really talked. they talked for the four-hour drive up & that’s how it started!
craig has been in australia attending med school since 2004; he will graduate a year from now. almost there! vanessa & craig have shown so much patience in their relationship—long distance is so difficult and they’ve dated for over two years now, most of it long-distance. this past summer vanessa spent four months working in australia to be with craig & she came back to canada with a RING. ta-DAH. vanessa graduates this april with her degree in kinesiology & they are planning a july wedding in osoyoos. only ten days after their wedding, they’ll be packing up vanessa’s life here and moving it halfway across the world. i’m excited to be her wedding photographer & to capture it all. enjoy!
p.s. thanks ness+craig for the starbucks gift card and sweet note! best. clients. ever. ;)
