Nighttime Thoughts by Jamie Delaine
It’s safe to say that if I had to choose a morning or an evening to live in all day long, I’d choose a morning. Yesterday morning as I sat beside Melissa Jill in her living room, these exact words slipped outta my mouth: “I love mornings. I could have mornings all day long.” Apparently she thought that was so funny she had to twitter it. I’m just a non-stop source of hilarity and entertainment, I tell ya! ;)
Blog readers, that above observation was indeed while I was operating from my “morning brain.” Morning brain is a bit more accurate than evening brain. We watched Hitch the first night I was here, and when Will Smith and Eva Mendes went ski-dooing for their first date in New York, I exclaimed, “Huh! I didn’t realize or remember that there was water in New York!” — a few moments of silence, then I hit myself. Oh yes… Ellis Island, saw that. Statue of Liberty surrounded by water, saw that. Long Island (Island points to the existence of water), heard about that.
Over Chicken Taquitos (which by the way, are NOT chicken tacos… just in case you were wondering. They are deep fried–AKA food I usually don’t allow anywhere near my mouth–tortillas. I had half of them but I still am not purposely ordering deep fried anything anytime soon) at Frank & Lupe’s in Scottsdale last night, another wise thought escaped my mouth. In the afternoon Melissa was feeling tired so she wanted to lay down for a while. I wanted to run.
I borrowed her car and drove down to the community centre to finish up my 2 miles before driving back to her place. At dinner my evening brain told my evening mouth to blurt out, “That was the first time I have driven in the States before!” Two more seconds of silence. “Whoops! Haha! I drive to NW Washington pretty much 25 times a year.” — Where my thought process was going was that I’ve never driven outside of Washington or Canada. Whenever we’re farther down South or East we rent a car and then because I’m not over 21 or 25 I can’t drive it. SO THERE. I’m not crazy.
Well…. just slightly crazy depending on what time of the day you talk to me.
When Kristen Leigh was in town last weekend, she took some quick photos of my beautiful family of four together. We’ve never had professional pictures taken (SHAME I know!!!) so we’ll treasure these for sure. :) She posted some on her blog, but here are a few more of my favourites.

Those are awesome family photos! I’m glad you’re having a fabulous time in the States right now.
I should get professional photos done of my family too! Funny how that is isn’t it? These are beautiful and surely will be forever treasured! See you soon. :)
I like both brains but evening brain is more entertaining. :)
