If you can even call it that… a road trip. Driving five and a half hours in one evening doesn’t really qualify a road-trip. The only snacks we had was a jumbo bar of milk chocolate with almonds (I much prefer my 86% cacao dark chocolate), and three CDs. I guess the road trip music makes it legit. The day arrived yesterday, when I got to see Sarah Barlow again (after 7 months!) and Kristen Leigh again (after 3 weeks, hehe!) — we were excited.
The drive was filled with facebook-videos-to-make-brainstorming written down on a shoebox. Why did we have a shoebox? Because we stopped at Walmart to buy Kristen running shoes obviously. For some reason she thought she wouldn’t need them… um… you’re vacationing with Jamie Delaine. What are you thinking? I’m a drill sergeant. I believe she even called me that on her blog. Yeah. She went there.
We arrived in Santa Barbara at midnight, and we were pumped about the great time we were making getting there. We’re driving up DJ’s road thinking “We’re so close!” GPS tells us to take a road for 2 miles. We start, and then a big sign saying “ROAD CLOSED: take detour.” It’s midnight. We’re kinda high off of Kings of Leon and Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em and I say, “Road closed? What the heck does that mean? What if you live down there? Sarah, just drive.” So we drive. It was actually closed folks. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
We phone DJ to ask directions, and let him know what intersection we’re sitting in. He says, um… and after a lot of silence… “I live at the top of the hill.” HAH. Thanks. ;) Anyway, we kept driving til Sarah goes: “WAIT! There was a DETOUR sign. We should take the DETOUR!” We burst out laughing. Um… Dur. That’s what detours are for. So by the time we actually get to his house we’re all dying to pee. I can’t laugh and hold in my pee. Barely made it. But I did. And we’re here.
& I ran 3 miles on “the hill” this morning and it felt NICE. Enjoy our quick roadtrip video below. ;)
