Our Love Story
I walked away from Tehra & McKenzie’s wedding day with a new passion for weddings. That’s not something every wedding photographer can say at the end of the summer wedding season: the last one refreshed them. I saw a wedding through my camera, not necessarily as a photographer, but as a cousin. A family member. Who loved and personally knew that Grandma I was snapping photos of during the touching speeches, the aunt and uncle I was watching as their son spoke his thank-you’s, the beautiful bride (and my soon-to-be cousin) who was vowing to love and respect her new husband for the rest of their lives.
Michelle fidgeted nervously as she stood in the floor-to-ceiling-blue-tiled room at Hycroft Manor. She rubbed her hands together and smiled, “I’m so nervous! I just want to see Mitch already! Hurry up!” Their wedding day had arrived, and it was an early one! Michelle and her bridesmaids arrived at the University Women’s Club completely ready to go at 9AM. Impressive. Before Michelle could see Mitch, he had to get past Michelle’s three bridesmaids. Absolutely hilarious tradition. They played three different games and you can see some more photos in the slideshow. I was laughing so hard!
Despite a week of feeling sick and icky, nothing could damper my excitement for Laura & Darren’s day on Friday, September 4th. I had been looking forward to being a part of this day since I first met Laura & Darren in early January at their apartment. I loved their style, I loved their energy, I loved their Goldendoodle, I loved their love. I celebrated alongside Laura and her fiance, with thirty of their closest friends for her thirtieth birthday party. A few weeks later, Laura and I met for Americanos, and we laughed as we chatted about more of the fabulous details she was planning for their September wedding.
I could see the anticipation in Laura’s eyes the whole day. She was counting the moments until she would become Ryan’s wife. In fact, Laura had been counting the days for months and months. I’ve loved reading her cute little facebook status updates every day for about the ohhh, past 300 days I’ve known this couple? Hard to believe those “300 days left!” statuses turned into “I’m getting married today!” — and yesterday, Laura and Ryan jetted off to Italy and France for a three week honeymoon as Mr. and Mrs. Life is a beautiful thing.
