Our Love Story
May 29, 2010 brought another awesome wedding day! It began bright and early Saturday morning as I greeted Nancy (and her two bridesmaids Tara and Monika) at 7:45AM at the Chura Salon in Vancouver. The day was already off to a great start as Chura has such a neat design with tons of white space. The rain continued to sprinkle outside onto Howe Street below but Nancy, unperturbed, remained her bubbly self as the final touches were put on her hair and make-up. We spent most of the hour there sitting, drinking coffee and chatting together while the bridesmaids and Nancy’s mom’s hair was being done! How awesome is my job? Nancy is so much fun and I was not in the least surprised to find out that her mother and bridesmaids were equally as great.
I had the pleasure of being among a small group of friends and family gathered around Victoria & Ross on their wedding day in Stanley Park held at the Stanley Park Tea House. I loved so many things about this wedding day, so let me try to narrow in a on a few here. First off, it was the smallest, most intimate wedding I have ever photographed. There were about thirty guests in attendance. I felt so humbled & so appreciative for my job… like I was truly getting a glimpse into their lives and the people of the utmost importance to them. Secondly, Victoria & Ross managed to put together the least stressful, most relaxed wedding day! A few things contributed to that, like the fact that they wanted to have a “First Look” before the ceremony.
May 21st is a special day to Sara & Jared. Sara said “Yes, I will!” to Jared on May 21st of last year, and this past weekend, exactly one year later they were married at the beautiful Swan-E-Set Resort Golf Course. When I arrrived and found Sara in the bride’s getting ready room, I was immediately showered in love as her mom and aunts exclaimed, “You’re the photographer! Ohh! Jamie! So good to meet you!” and hugs were all around. It was pretty much the best way to start a wedding day. We were all laughing and chatting and somebody says, “I can’t believe you’re only 18!!!” Sara interrupts and says, “She’s actually 19.” And I added, “Yes, and 20 soon!” Haha! Too cute.
Faezah & Anjum’s wedding day. Absolutely beautiful. From the moment I pulled up at Faezah’s parents beautiful West Vancouver home, I knew it was going to be a day unlike any other. I climbed the stairs up to the front door, turned around and looked out onto the horizon, where I was greeted with an incredible view of Stanley Park and the entire skyline of Vancouver. Talk about a location! Inside I watched as family scurried about getting last minute details together for the Nikah ceremony that was to take place at Faezah’s family’s house. Over a hundred guests were in attendance for the morning ceremony and lunch to follow.
