Our Love Story
samantha and kyle’s wedding was such a beautiful, love-filled day. a few things stick out to me that i want to blog about here! samantha+kyle are the youngest couple i’ve photographed. i love young couples. samantha graduated the same year as i from a high school five minutes away from my house–we have quite a few mutual acquaintances, which is so fun. i recognized her last name as soon as i got the wedding inquiry a few months ago. it was my first time photographing a bride my own age—i guess that’s going to start happening more? i’m getting so old. ;)
erin & boyd were married at four o’ clock in the afternoon at a beautiful catholic church in west vancouver. a hundred friends and family gathered around them to celebrate their commitment to one another. the late afternoon was spent taking photos on the hot, breezy, beautiful friday in july with their very lively bridal party. ;) the spot where we photographed the couple was where boyd proposed to erin a year ago. it was fun to return there; after all the planning, to come back to the place that started it all.
in between kissing and hugging and smiling and laughing with darcy, shannon turns to me during our portrait time and blurts out, i stalked him. i did. for three weeks. it was in a shakespeare class at simon fraser university that shannon first saw darcy: the cute boy. shannon’s friends clearly remember operation meet-the-cute-boy. this operation lasted for three weeks and included items like “find out where and with who the-cute-boy hangs out.” one day, darcy put an end to her stalking and asked her out for dinner.
i am so glad i decided to sit next to the pretty girl on the first day of school and work up the courage to talk to her. because of it, here we are today! chris smiled as he toasted his new bride during their lunch reception at the hart house restaurant. lisa+chris met at the university of british columbia and became fast friends after meeting. after six months of friendship, they both moved to a small town in saskatchewan for a distance education class. chris’ brother brian remembered, none of us were really sure where chris+lisa’s relationship stood… but i knew that after a few months in a small town they’d probably make it official. there isn’t much to do in saskatchewan. too hilarious! brian was right. shortly after returning back to vancouver, chris+lisa started dating.
