there’s a song i’ve been listening to non-stop lately. it’s a cover of “i want you back” by jackson 5 and it’s sung by the civil wars. oh baby give me one more chance, show you that i love you, won’t you please let me [back in your heart] — oh darlin’ i was blind to let you go, but now since i see you in his arms, i want you back.

gloria remembers the first time she met roy. he was sitting in their college cafeteria, with a friend of gloria’s. they were introduced, they chatted a bit over lunch and before going their separate ways, roy asked for gloria’s phone number. she gave it to him, but not before asking, why?! and he answered, because you’re funny and i think i’d like to hang out sometime. over the next few months on campus, they began to randomly run into each other. gloria says in her years at college she never ran into anybody she knew consistently–but she kept running into roy. always in between classes, never enough time to chat. and he still never called her. roy transferred to another university and six months passed with zero contact between the two of them. gloria was hanging out with a friend one afternoon for lunch, which turned into a full-day hangout with a larger group of friends that evening. well, who walked in that night as a friend of one of gloria’s friends? roy! he remembered gloria as soon as he heard her name but gloria honestly didn’t until she saw his face and thought, ahhh, that’s the guy who never called me. ;)

laura & iain are such a fun couple: from their very first email to me, which they highlighted their preference for anti-cheezy wedding photos, i knew they were a good match for me! when they drove out from north vancouver [where they live] all the way to fort langley, to meet with me in my studio space, i loved them even more. ;) laura & iain are planning a wedding at brock house restaurant in vancouver the first weekend in september. i absolutely love that venue–they picked their wedding date specifically around brock house‘ availability and for good reason too! they have an outdoor ceremony planned at sunset and i can’t wait. september is one of my favourite, favourite seasons. perfect combination of summer and quickly-approaching autumn.

claire & wes were married this past saturday, june 18, at the beautiful holy rosary cathedral in downtown vancouver. i call it the prettiest church in vancouver and i would challenge any other opinion. claire and her bridesmaids got ready at the wedgewood hotel, just a few blocks from the cathedral. although there were a few hiccups the morning of the wedding, forgotten shoes and hair appointments running late, everything worked out & claire got to the cathedral right on time. wes waited at the end of the aisle for his bride, dressed in his official vancouver police uniform and claire walked arm-in-arm with her father. after a beautiful ceremony, the couple exited the cathedral doors to sprinkling rain.
