Our Love Story
oh, veronica & henry! how much i loved your wedding day… let me count the ways. veronica, i love that i first met you when you modelled for a commercial shoot i did for your friends’ company, C&O apparel last year. i love that you had a shiny rock on your finger & emailed me that week begging me to photograph your wedding. i love that even though i already had 7 booked for july 2011 and taking one more wasn’t something i thought i could handle… i said yes anyway. because i knew your wedding would be rad. i love that you chose my favourite venue in the lower mainland: fraser river lodge.
last saturday, on july 23rd, not only did the sun arrive in vancouver–so did jessica and scott’s wedding day! jessica & scott are dear people to me. since i met them last november at their ballpark engagement session in langley–they’ve been on my heart in a big way. jessica’s younger brother cameron was tragically taken last summer in a car accident, only a few short months after jessica + scott got engaged. it has been a year full of overwhelming grief and sweet memories of cameron while planning for the “happiest day of their life.” it brings me to tears, thinking about what the past year has held for jessica + scott — and how their love for each other & for their families has grown stronger through it all. saturday was a difficult day for the family as they celebrated with jessica + scott but longed for cameron to be there.
this weekend, i photographed two incredible weddings. jessica & scott’s wedding on saturday and veronica & henry’s wedding on sunday. both amazing days, both amazing couples. both full of tears and laughs. both made me excited about love and life and made me happy to do what i do for a living. i also worked with two awesome assistants both weddings that made my job a breeze. being free to focus on shooting and not on carrying bags, navigating through vancouver, finding a glass of water, grabbing batteries from the other corner of the room: bliss. so thank you: rebecca, leanne, candace.
monday night was a first for me. i got a message from kristen’s boyfriend [andrew] on friday evening, while i was still on vacation. he said, this is on the down-low, but i’m gonna put a ring on it [my words, not his. actually. beyonce’s words.] this sunday or monday. would you be down for taking some photos and doing a mini-session of us in fort langley? umm, yep, i would! kristen and i went to high school together and she has always been one of those beautiful, beautiful people. she seems to be friends with every crowd, always has a smile for you, always have a nice word on her lips: just shines. since we graduated together three years ago [with vanessa. sidenote.] we seem to run into each other all the time. i swear i’ve ran into her & andrew in fort langley three times and other random places in langley a handful of times. we obviously like the same places. ;)
