sometimes you meet someone and something magical happens– you know you have a friend for life. sarah barlow & i met over three years ago–and after spending ten days together [i did an mini-internship with her] it was firmly decided controlling our laughter would forever be an unsuccessful effort. we don’t try anymore. i can’t walk in a straight line when i am with her, my laughter doubles me over and i criss-cross down the trail/street/hallway–wherever we find ourselves attempting to walk. ;) she isn’t much better and most of our evenings together are spent rapping along to some of our favourite hits like kiss me thru the phone or super bass. we look back on the four trips we’ve spent together… and decided we have matured a tad [pat on the back]–usually our times together produce horrific video after horrific video that we find hilarious but the internet cries over. we didn’t make any videos this time. we just took some photos. & then we decided to act like the respectable, classy, confident women we are for a few–instead of whatever was going on in the previous photos. my outfit that travel day was hilarious. lumberjack central.

the spark between alex & joanna started in tofino on a camping trip with friends. they were greeted with crazy rains and winds and it continued through their entire kayaking trip. alex is an absolute lover of the great outdoors: especially the incredible terrain in british columbia. a trip with extreme weather was nothing but exciting for him. joanna, although not quite as adventurous as alex [at the time] held her own: through the rain, through the wind, amidst the holy cow this weather is actually frightening thoughts. joanna was steadfast, alex was impressed & decided to make a move. he knew a good woman when he saw one. joanna had style, class, brains, beauty and… perseverance in the midst of a storm.

for three days and three nights, tofino rained on us. the first forty-eight hours of our seventy-two hour trip, i got lucky and the precipitation stopped for ten minutes twice. in those tiny pockets of time, my running shoes were laced & i was out the door. sarah & i stayed in a tiny cottage nestled two hundred feet up from the beach: constructed entirely from rustic wood and filled with a smell reminiscent of home cooking. not mine–somebody else’s.

kelsey, oh lovely friend of mine. i’ve known kelsey since i was thirteen — through the years she’s only grown more and more dear to me. we used to see each other regularly at youth group and served together as leaders after we graduated. although we go to different churches now, my friendship with her [no matter how busy are lives become] is stronger than its ever been. i can meet this girl once every three months for coffee & we’re right into honest conversation about our lives, our relationships with Jesus and… oh yeah, since february, her boyfriend. yeahhh, kelsey’s got herself a boyfriend and i think he’s stellar.
