Our Love Story
i have been challenged to read the Bible with simple faith lately, particularly when it comes to the promises of God. i believe when God says we will be blessed, we will be blessed. on my flight home from salt lake city on saturday, i was reading through a few chapters in the book of psalms. i read psalm 112, and read it again, and again, and soon, i was furiously scribbling notes in my journal. i’d love to share them with you.
i am a huge fan of destination weddings; including mini-destination weddings! who says “destination” require a flight? often it’s only a long road trip or a ferry that you need. vanessa and craig had one at spirit ridge in osoyoos, alison and ryan had one on the sunshine coast, erika and malcolm had one on vancouver island & joanna and alex had one in tofino at middle beach lodge. i love the “feel” of a destination wedding — as a guest, you have to head out of town, leaving behind work and other responsibilities and because of that, you get to celebrate a marriage AND have a mini-vacation. even when i’m there to work [not exactly a vacation] i still love enjoy them a ton when they are in between local weddings.
emily and lane are two incredible youth leaders at revolution. they have a huge heart for God, for church, for youth ministry, for community [their home is always open!] — and in the year i have known them, come to appreciate them like crazy. emily and lane both grew up on vancouver island; met through a few friends in the last year of high school, hung out a few times… but lane was headed to australia. for two years. their relationship was left on-hold… meaning, they didn’t have one–haha!–but occasionally talked on facebook, the rare skype call, etc. after a year of school in sydney at hillsong college, lane came home for the summer and these two made it official. only to have him leave again for another year! but emily was just happy to have him as her boyfriend finally, because as she told me once over coffee, “i guess i was pretty infatuated with lane from the very beginning.”
as of nine thirty this morning, i am back home in langley after eleven days in australia. we left sydney airport at noon, january 14th and landed in vancouver at 7:45AM, january 14th. basically time travel. the flight was shorter on the way home [fourteen hours vs. almost sixteen!] and not only did leanne make it on my flight this time, but we switched seats and got to sit together the whole way home. such a good travel day. [plus who doesn’t love an eight-day week!?!]
