Our Love Story
this season of my life really is a lot of fun. it’s a fun age, being a year and a half into my 20’s — so many of my friends are dating and best of all, a few of them are starting to get engaged! which is so exciting. it’s a real gift to be in someone’s life before they meet “that someone” — it happened to me with kristen and it’s happened to me with christie! christie and i met at trinity western university back in the fall of 2008… i cannot believe that was three and a half years ago. christie moved to langley from haiti, where her family has lived for almost ten years now as missionaries. in her first year of university, christie met a boy named dan — and they started hanging out around campus occasionally. as friends.
one of the dearest people in my life, kristen leigh snyder, met a man from oklahoma named caleb in the fall of 2010. through a few months of occasional chats then two months of very regular phone calls [he was in oklahoma, she was in maryland] and a few months of silence [sometimes guys and girls need that silence to figure their stuff out] these two started dating in april 2011. the great united kingdom trip kristen and i took in may 2011 was one week after these two started dating. i remember kristen waking up one morning at 5am, rushing down to the lobby of our dublin hostel [which was disgusting, by the way] in her adidas shorts, rain boots and beige peacoat to Skype with caleb after his workday. it was all so new — this caleb in her life… but she was excited.
becca and austin first met three and a half years ago at a church youth group. austin was in senior high and becca was a leader helping out at the time–they met but didn’t quite become friends. more like acquaintances. there was an age gap and the timing wasn’t right. it wasn’t until a year and a half ago [when they both became youth leaders — becca started helping out again after some time away] that these two re-connected. as the story goes, they became friends, feelings started on both sides and boom, holding hands one night and dating since last spring.
