Our Love Story
On January 5th I photographed the incredible wedding of Emma Hansen and Aaron Vandenbrink. Shortly after finishing their images, the event was picked up by WedLuxe Magazine for a real wedding feature in the 2013 Summer/Fall issue. The magazine hit stands this week. I was so thrilled to receive a few copies in the mail. Seeing my work in print, holding it in my hands, it’s pretty exciting. Can’t wait to blog the full post of Emma and Aaron’s day sometime this summer.
Lauren and Leon’s wedding day was one of the most emotional I’ve experienced in my almost 6 years of shooting. (For sure, top 5.) From the moment I hugged Lauren and Leon “hello” in the kitchen of the heritage Kirkland House after their Chinese tea ceremony to the final goodbye at Kirin Restaurant, these two were SMILING. All day. Happy, ALL DAY. I love expressive people. A wedding day is a day for emotion. I had fun “re-living” Sunday again on Wednesday while compiling images to blog. There were so many lovely details. Lauren’s gorgeous dress fit her like a glove and I loved her two pairs of shoes: sexy heels and then a little more comfy, but still cute, pair of TOMs. (All her bridesmaids had the same: heels and a pair of TOMs. Smart women.)
Carmen and Daniel met over six years ago, when a mutual friend was deathly ill with pneumonia in the hospital. Over visits they got to know one another better. However, Daniel was living in Victoria at the time. It wasn’t until he moved back to Vancouver and pursued Carmen that she became a regular part of his life. Carmen mentioned on her questionnaire knowing Daniel was the “one” for her within a month of dating — and likewise for him. So, a handful of years later, Daniel asked Carmen to be his wife on Easter weekend at the top of a glacier in Whistler, complete with a helicopter ride. Pretty rad. Happy wedding planning, you two!
Natalie and Raymond were born in Hong Kong. Natalie moved to Vancouver as a teenager, Raymond moved to Scotland. They both finished their schooling and moved back to Hong Kong… and met each other! It was a Boxing Day dinner (for you Americans, that’s the British holiday after Christmas Day) at a mutual friend’s house. A month or so later, they started dating. They’ve been together for 2 and a half years and are tying the knot this September at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong. I wish I was shooting the wedding – but I’m not. ;) Natalie brought Raymond to Vancouver for the first time this month to visit some of her extended family. It was so fun capturing the love these two have on Monday afternoon. Enjoy!
