Our Love Story
There was so much anticipation in my heart about this past weekend. Friday and Saturday were to be in Penticton photographing Ashley & Grant’s Rehearsal Dinner, followed by their Saturday wedding at God’s Mountain Estate. Sunday, I was a bridesmaid in one of my closest friends weddings, back in Langley. A four hour drive apart. Finish shooting one wedding at 9:30pm. Need to be at friend/bride’s house by 9:30AM the next day. With a weekend that crazy, I was thankful to be surrounded by some of the least stressful and most caring family and friends of Ashley and Grant. Oh and can’t forget to mention… shooting at one of the most beautiful venues in BC. If not Canada. God’s Mountain Estate is a bed and breakfast slash grecian villa way up on the hill overlooking Skaha Lake in Penticton. It’s stunning. Truly stunning. It was my second visit to the venue and without a doubt, just as magical the second time.
Ashley and Grant’s God’s Mountain Estate destination wedding in Penticton, BC was the first wedding I booked for the 2013 season… way, way back in December 2011. (Side note: I saw the movie called Way, Way Back last night. With Steve Carrell. It was awesome. You should see it. Very quirky, very good.) Safe to say, this day has been a long time coming. Ashley and Grant have been together for almost five year & engaged for almost half of those. The wedding weekend finally arrived and guests came from the Lower Mainland and Alberta to celebrate. After a quick rehearsal at God’s Mountain Estate Ashley and Grant hosted a Welcome BBQ and “Rehearsal Dinner” for all of their 50-ish guests at Skaha Lake Park. I was happy to be there to casually and candidly capture (alliteration!) the celebration.
Johnny & Anette were married this past Saturday in Surrey and celebrated their marriage with 200 family and friends at Pink Pearl Restaurant in Vancouver. Anette and her bridesmaids looked stunning and the groomsmen had me laughing for the majority of the afternoon. Many, many thanks to Alice Fung of Events to the Nines : truly one of the kindest, most efficient, talented wedding coordinators around. So appreciate her and her team!
I loved Helen and Sam from the first time I met them over coffee this Spring. I loved their story how they met almost two years ago through a mutual friend – Helen was on her way over to dinner and Sam was just leaving a friend’s house. He had been there setting up her TV and computer. It was October 21, 2011. It was a “hi and bye” meeting, but Helen remembers Sam – a funny and outgoing guy. They were engaged a year and a few months after and are planning a September 2013 wedding. Sam and I actually went to the same private high school in Surrey, which we unexpectedly discovered at our meeting. I was very excited to see this beautiful couple again and photograph their engagement session late Wednesday evening in Vancouver. And ohhh, it did not disappoint.
