Our Love Story
Carmen and Trevor were married this past Saturday at Swan-E-Set Golf & Country Club in Maple Ridge, but the day began at Carmen’s parent’s home in Vancouver. I love when two cultures blend in a wedding day and Carmen and Trevor’s day was no exception. My favourite moment of the morning was during the tea ceremony. The audience of guests watching laughed every time Trevor spoke a few Chinese words before handing family members tea. (By the way, Carmen filled me in. Apparently before the tea is handed to each family member, all she’s saying in Chinese is “drink tea.” All these years and I never thought to ask and never knew! Hah!) I also loved Carmen’s family’s dog that was sporting a blue bow tie to match the bridesmaids and hanging around all day. (Even at the venue! It was awesome, he was walking around mingling with the guests in the ballroom like it was his home.)
Paolo and Ashley met at a theatre production a couple of years ago when Ashley was acting alongside one of Paolo’s friends. Paolo immediately noticed Ashley, she was beautiful and talented. He added Ashley as a Facebook friend although both were in other relationships at the time. Life moved on as life has a way of doing… Ashley moved to London for a year for theatre and back again. One day, Ashley changed her status to “single,” and Paolo, now single as well, took note. Paolo asked Ashley out for coffee and she was hesitant at first… but a little while later, Paolo caught her eye again.
Nicole and Ryan inquired with me a couple months ago… and within an hour of answering Nicole’s email we were on the phone together and the details for their wedding photography was confirmed. “I need to book you before someone else does!” Nicole said. No complaints here. (Not only that but Nicole’s best friend also booked me as her wedding photographer for next Spring. Thankful!)
Braedon and Padraig’s Grouse Mountain wedding was a joy to be a part of. Neither Braedon nor Padraig are “in the spotlight” kind of people… and they knew a small, intimate wedding was exactly what they wanted. I met Braedon at the bottom of the Grouse Mountain gondola. After a short delay (seriously, I’ve been on the gondola many, many times and it’s never broke down) we were on our way up to meet Padraig. The first moments between Braedon and Padraig were beyond sweet!
