Our Love Story

looking for something specific?

Sarah and Onur met for the first time at a mixer party for their MBA program at the University of British Columbia. Sarah was in the part-time track and Onur in the full-time, so their paths hadn’t crossed before that point. Onur introduced himself and Sarah remembers his kind smile, but nothing materialized between the pair immediately.

Lynn and Peter met just over one year ago, on a hiking trip organized by mutual friends. There were 20 friends hiking together that day on the five hour trail. Peter noticed Lynn lagging behind a bit and instead of charging ahead to prove his own athleticism, he waited for her, encouraging her along the way. Lynn noticed his effort and soon, they both realized they were left behind! For an hour or so, they hiked together, not talking too much, but enjoying each other’s company. Lynn remembers it as ‘definitely a great first impression!’ A week after the hike, Peter asked Lynn out on a date and she said yes. Fifteen months later, here I am, sharing their engagement photos with you!

Forge - A Love Story

(If you’re looking for links to other parts of the story, scroll to the end of this post.)

On Monday, July 22nd, the day after “I love you” I wrote in my journal…

“I’m still a little scared of ‘I love you.’ I felt good saying it yesterday. I didn’t regret it. I haven’t regretted it. I felt like it was exploding painfully in my brain before I said it. Hence the tears. When I told Randy I liked him for the first time, I don’t remember being ‘fully’ confident of it. (I can’t be fully confident of emotion, it messes with my brain, I find it hard to decipher.)
But I grew in confidence. I feel like loving Randy will be the same. I want to commit to him and know him and grow with him and open up. I didn’t expect emotion to be so “uncomfortable” for me. I also certainly expected to “feel” in love and giddy and crazy. I’d love to feel that now. To look at him and know he’s my husband.”

As the months went on, I began to understand more and more about how my (INTJ) brain worked. Thoughts were thought of and feelings followed. First, I had to logically determine my thoughts about Randy and wait until my subconscious felt safe enough for emotion to appear. (Yes, I was, and am, a complex little thinker.)

Jennifer and Daniel were married on Saturday, August 13th in a Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish in Vancouver. Following their afternoon ceremony, they celebrated with friends and family at a dinner reception at the beautiful Marriott Pinnacle Hotel downtown. At the beginning of the day, we greeted Jennifer, her four bridesmaids and Jennifer’s mom in the presidential suite of the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel. The space was completely gorgeous! So many large windows, two bathrooms, two dining spaces, bedroom and a living room – the best case scenario for shooting details, basically. ;) I loved the bridesmaids long blush pink dresses and Jennifer’s lace strapless gown with buttons up the back. (Jen’s mom dress was incredible, too… I wanted it!)
