Good morning! I’m back for Part 3 of my “Winter Project Show & Tell.” In Part 1, we looked inside my United Kingdom trip (links to all blog posts included) and in Part 2, my Quebec album (links to all blog posts included, as well.) The last trip of my crazy year of travel was our 2 week trip to Australia. My parents spent a few weeks in Australia on their honeymoon, 25 years ago, and it’s somewhere I’ve always dreamed of going. When the opportunity to shoot Roxy & Diego’s wedding a few hours outside of Sydney arrived, I knew I needed to take it. My friend Leanne came with me and we traveled to Sydney, the Southern Highlands (Bowral – where the wedding took place), Melbourne and did a day-trip all along the Melbourne coast one afternoon, too.

as of nine thirty this morning, i am back home in langley after eleven days in australia. we left sydney airport at noon, january 14th and landed in vancouver at 7:45AM, january 14th. basically time travel. the flight was shorter on the way home [fourteen hours vs. almost sixteen!] and not only did leanne make it on my flight this time, but we switched seats and got to sit together the whole way home. such a good travel day. [plus who doesn’t love an eight-day week!?!]

the last day we had in sydney before leaving to shoot roxy & diego’s wedding was spent in one of australia’s stunning national parks. a new photographer friend of mine, james day, suggested that leanne & i hit up this spot and offered to show us around. so thankful he did! [also: little shout out, james was the sydney photographer who recommended me, all the way from vancouver, to roxy & diego. can’t thank him enough for his referral — check out his blog.]

bowral is a small town in the southern highlands area of new south wales; full of gorgeous wineries and open space. the perfect escape from the crowded city of sydney, but still only an hour and a half away. after two nights staying in the area, it was obvious why roxy & diego chose the spot for their mini-destination wedding. stunning.
