Our Love Story
leanne and i have been in australia six days now, four spent in sydney & two spent in the southern highlands region [for roxy & diego’s centennial vineyards wedding.] we are currently waiting to board a delayed flight to melbourne from sydney, where we’ll be hanging out for the rest of the week. for both leanne and i, we could not have enjoyed sydney more; it was the first city we’ve visited that we could see feeling like “home” …if it needed to be, of course. perhaps it was the bridge & harbours, reminiscent of vancouver, or maybe it was the church we worshipped with twice yesterday that reminded us of our own. but it is simply comfortable here. beautiful.
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,
for through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth.
Everything was created through him and for him.
He existed before anything else,
and he holds all creation together.
Colossians 1 [NLT]
i was giddily excited to meet roxy & diego, my first australian wedding clients, this past thursday night in the sydney harbour. the session we had been planning halfway across the world for months had finally arrived. roxy was born in south africa; diego in columbia–but are both proud to now call australia home. roxy’s family immigrated when she was a teenager & diego came to sydney for school… and then never left! [i feel like this is a recurring theme… sydney grabs a hold of cool people.] these two met a few years ago in a group of friends and fell in love.
jill & matty mccloghry first met six years ago at a cafe in sydney. jill had flown from florida to sydney to attend hillsong conference and conveniently met a boy named matty while out for coffee with a group of friends. turns out she had a good feeling about this boy because two months later, jill picked up her american life and relocated to australia. not much more than a year later, jill & matty were married and now have a beautiful daughter named maizey. sounds pretty carefree… but that’s not the entire story.
