scott + aubyn : maternity

Oct 13

Scott and Aubyn are two of my most favourite people in the whole world. &That’s not an exaggeration! I first met Scott and Aubyn three or four years ago, when my family started attending Southgate Church. Scott is the youth pastor at Southgate Church and my brother Brandon and I absolutely loved the youth program at Southgate. We got connected right away and the friendships I have built with the other youth and the youth leaders will last for a lifetime, I’m sure! When we started attending youth, we got plugged in to a Lifegroup right away and I attended a Grade 9/10 girls group led by Aubyn, Scott’s wife! I’ll never forget that the first evening I attended Aubyn had just got home a few days before from their honeymoon. They both attended Trinity Western where they met–Aubyn’s father pastors a church in Eugene, OR and Scott’s father is the senior pastor of our church.

Scott and Aubyn give and give and give to the church and their city continuously. I am SO inspired by their marriage and their relationship as a couple. Since they got married they have led the Grade 12 boys&girls lifegroup at their home every Tuesday night during the school year. I attended all of last year and loved every minute of it. Scott is also a worship leader at the church and Aubyn often sings on the worship team. Scott is just SO creative and if you know me, you know that creativity inspires me and his music and his love of art inspire me so much! And then there’s Aubyn, who has been my role model since I met her as a fourteen-year-old! She is one of those individuals who just shines God’s love wherever she goes. I could just go on and ON about these two but I think you’d just have to meet them for yourselves. :) So, it was during our lifegroup last year that Scott and Aubyn announced to us that they were pregnant and expecting their first child! Ahh I was soo excited for them and immediately offered to photograph their maternity session–these two deserve it more than I can express. You are both going to be AMAZING parents! :) I can’t wait to meet this little guy or girl in two weeks!

Favourite!

Can you believe how amazingly-gorgeous Aubyn is? She’s 8 1/2 months pregnant and as my mom would say, “she’s all baby!”

We finished up the shoot at their house where they had this pretty sweet laundry machine just sitting outside.

Scott is a HUGE fan of music–he breathes it like oxygen–and he often puts headphones on Aubyn’s belly so the baby can listen to music! Cute huh?

These photos make me smile: I couldn’t believe that Aubyn was up for riding a bike! I don’t know if I’ll be able to when I’m two weeks away from giving birth. This was Scott’s idea and I looooove the orange colour of the bike–so “autumn!”

Watch the slideshow below or click here to have it open in a new window! The song is called “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Chris Tomlin and it’s AMAZING! I love it.

Yesterday at our Father’s Day barbeque, my cousin Kristy happens to say, “I don’t have any pictures of me pregnant yet!” –She’s due on August 5th, and with my schedule being so crazy right now I said, “Let’s take some right now!” So now Kristy and her husband Vince have pictures to remember this time.

Kristy and Vince were married three years ago and I was a bridesmaid in her beautiful wedding–it was so much fun! That’s sort of been a moment I always look back on, because three years ago I had NO idea in heck I would ever, ever, ever consider being a photographer. I don’t think I had ever picked up a digital SLR camera. We were with a photographer taking pictures for two hours, and I didn’t even pay attention to what kind of camera, lens, etc., –which of course I would notice now without evening trying. Life is funny!

Oh, I had so much fun processing these images! I met Rachel and her husband Sean for the first time on Thursday, and we spent about an hour and a half walking around the Westminster Quay and then at Moody Park, which is right near their apartment in New West. While we were talking, I asked how they found out about me. I find that the answer is usually “through a friend” as the majority of my business comes from word of mouth. Rachel said that she actually found me on Google. Well, further into our conversation, it turns out that we counted three mutual friends, including my first cousin! How random is that? A google search turns into knowing each other through a whole bunch of connections. It’s these church circles, I’m telling ya. :)

Rachel is due on July 29th, and will be having a girl! How exciting is that? They already have the names picked out, two in fact. One for if she has brown hair and one for if she has red hair. Isn’t that just adorable? I can’t wait to meet their little baby, I will be doing their newborn shots during the two days I’m home in between my Chicago and Alaska trips in August. Enjoy your photos Rachel and Sean, I had a blast with you. See you in two months!

I loved all their outfit changes, especially this one! It inspired some “vintage” processing.
