A few days after we got engaged, my friend Leanne offered to return the favour of many-a-couples sessions I had photographed of her and Sam and shoot our engagement session as a gift. We were so thankful for the gift! Our freezing (don’t let the sleeveless dress fool you) afternoon session took place in Port Moody: one of our favourite areas of the Lower Mainland. It was also the city Randy told me he first liked me. It was neat to shoot there and know the background of these photos means so much. The weather could not have been more beautiful – a perfect wintery day.

Being on the other side of all of wedding planning is, obviously, a new experience. But on the other hand, it feels so natural, like I’ve done it a thousand times before. (I have seen it a thousand times so maybe my mind has enough imagery stored away to easily reverse the memories and have us as subjects seem natural?) We had a lot of fun on our shoot and it is much, much easier to pose with someone than solo!

P.S. You’ll notice my glasses on & off throughout this post. I wear glasses every day and because of my astigmatism I am not eligible for contact lenses. My only option is glasses. However, I’m praying and hoping my eye surgery consultation in January will reveal I can get surgery and therefore, won’t have to have glasses on my wedding day. (Or afterwards. However, I like my glasses and will probably miss the look of them – but I don’t want to be a glasses-wearing bride.) I thought it would be nice to have some engagement photos with me looking like I will “for the rest of my life.” (Nothing on my face.) Ha!
