Our Love Story
i am bad at waiting for things: this character weakness of mine is well known.
a beautiful eighteen-days in quebec thus far, but if i could transport home tonight, i think i would. the longer i am away, the farther away the faces i love seem to be. however, i know that in all things, God has perfect timing. impeccable really. He has my days written & the very best plans for me. as silly as it may sound, i believe it applies to “just two more days.” i am constantly reminded to not run ahead of His plans — why wish for home when God has me here? what can i do in this moment, where i am right now with what i have right now? they are good questions. i want to ask them more — about any today i am given.
the day before my scheduled montreal portrait session with melissa johnston i got an email: awful bout of food poisoning. hives all over. you don’t want to photograph me. i promise. what other days are you free? unfortunately i couldn’t fit in another session before i left montreal but melissa heard quebec city and boom, she was on it. yesterday morning she drove five hours from ottawa to quebec city to have me photograph her. three hours farther than montreal would have been for her. ;) so blessed by my clients — love that they love road trips and love me enough to take ’em.
kandise & andre should win some kind of award. when they heard i was going to be in montreal over remembrance day weekend, they planned a road-trip from new brunswick to have me take their picture! a nine hour drive? that’s dedication. ahhh, yes, i guess the actual city of montreal was a pretty big draw too [it’s kinda great] and they made a fantastic weekend out of the trip. these two were a blast to photograph: so comfortable in front of my camera. perhaps that’s because kandise is a wedding photographer herself. ;)
i spent my teenage years as part of an incredible youth group at southgate church. although there weren’t more than about fifty of us, we had some incredible times together. i met my friend scott & his family through church and we were often around the same circles. after high school graduation, scott moved to montreal to attend mcgill university on a partial scholarship. four years later, i found myself in montreal photographing his engagement session to an incredible girl named mari. ahh, i love God’s plans & it’s always beautiful to look back on the years leading up to the relationships He brings together.
