emily grew up in vancouver, but after graduating high school, decided it was time to branch out on her own. she selected queen’s university in ontario for her studies and off she went to start a new adventure. in january 2004, emily’s second year of studying politics, and adam’s third of studying engineering, they met at a mutual friend’s house party. the introduction turned into something more. adam remembers all the other guys downstairs watching sports, while he stayed upstairs “asking as many questions as [he] could.” i love that. after graduation, they both stayed in ontario but after adam popped the question, emily knew she wanted to plan a vancouver wedding close to home.

emily & adam’s wedding day marked almost a decade of together-ness for these two. emily wrote that “having been together for almost 9 years, we have grown a lot together and been through many life milestones as a couple.” you can certainly see their love. emily and adam were nothing but relaxed and excitement on their scorcher of a wedding day. [now, i’m a vancouverite. aka pathetic. the ontario folk were doing just fine.] it was hot, we were sweaty, but this was their day — and nothing was going to ruin that. after a first look in the front yard of emily’s parent’s house, we took advantage of their gorgeous backyard for some portraits before heading over to a park near jericho beach.

both the ceremony and reception were at shaughnessy golf course and it was only the second time i had worked at this beautiful venue. [in fact, that was how emily heard about my work — she saw my first wedding there!] all of the details were beautiful and flawlessly co-ordinated by the talented candice jones of a day to remember. [thank you, candice!]

emily and adam, it was a delight to be a part of your wedding day. you and your families are truly, truly lovable people. it was a joy.
