Angela and Richard met through a mutual friend at church, about a year after Angela decided to move from Ontario to B.C. Angela applied for and accepted a job out here and moved, having never been to the Province before! (By the way you came to the best one, Angela.) Richard and Angela had similar friend circles through different groups at church but didn’t have a chance to spend one-on-one time together until July of last year.
August 4, 2014 this couple became “official” boyfriend and girlfriend and very shortly after, in November, they decided this was it! A forever love. When Angela and I met for coffee to talk about their wedding day, I loved finding out so many similarities between us! It would be only about 9 months from first date to wedding date for them – and for Randy and myself it was very similar timing. We both got engaged in November… married the same wedding weekend in March (March 28 for us, March 29 for them) and get this, you guys… I can’t believe this fact.
Randy and I went away from our first anniversary, the night of March 28th. We stayed at Pretty Estates in Harrison Mills, in the same cabin that we stayed in on our wedding night, 365 days before. We woke up and checked out so I could get ready for Angela and Richard’s wedding day. The day after Angela and Richard’s wedding, March 30th, Angela tags me in a photo on instagram. She took the exact same picture I had taken of Randy the day before because she saw mine on instagram and thought it was hilarious.
Okay, guys. Let’s recap this. The SAME hotel… in the SAME cabin. We had the same honeymoon suite but more than that, literally, Randy and I left the cabin that morning and Angela and Richard checked into the SAME one twelve hours later. WHAT!!! My universe just exploded.
Anyway back to the wedding day, as Randy and I drove back to Langley… I watched the weather. Pouring, pouring, pouring. With no chance of it letting up. The weather network said 100% and they sure were accurate this time. When I arrived at Swan-E-Set Golf, I was all prepared with umbrellas, rain jackets, a last-minute hired assistant to help us – but we decided it was best to stay indoors. Angela and Richard worked the indoor portraits at Swan-E-Set Golf and I was so thankful for big beautiful windows.
Richard and Angela chose to do a First Look, which I am all about – giving us lots of time for unhurried portraits.
Thankfully, the talented Katsura Designs finished the decor early – so we had the whole ceremony ballroom space to use for portraits.
Angela, you’re stunning!
Of course, we had to incorporate some of the beautiful architecture in the Swan-E-Set ballroom.
Window light is the best light! ;)
With bride and groom portraits out of the way, we had a half hour to spare before the ceremony. I absolutely loved the cream and gold set-up in the grand ballroom at Swan-E-Set Golf.
This moment! (See, a First Look doesn’t “ruin” anything!) Love when Angela started to tear up.
In the ceremony, Angela and Richard had a friend sing “Ever Be” by Bethel Music. It was my first time hearing the song and I absolutely loved the lyrics – so fitting for a wedding: “Your love is devoted like a ring of solid gold // Like a vow that is tested like a covenant of old.”
“Your love is enduring through the winter rain and beyond the horizon with mercy for today.”
“Faithful You have been and faithful you will be, You pledge yourself to me and it’s why I sing.”
Okay, this is the cutest. Haha, so glad I captured this.
The Swan-E-Set Golf Ballroom was done up right, thanks to the team at Katsura Designs!
Love these small gold frames!
