Engagement Session

Stanley Park Engagement Photos

I am so excited to share Jing & Vince’s engagement photos with you this morning! I just loved this whole session – the locations, the light, the couple! Ah! It made me happy. Jing and Vince’s story starts long, long ago (fifteen years ago to be exact!) when their families met through church. Neither really remembers meeting the other – but soon they were simply a part of each other’s church lives. They had separate friends and went to separate schools but were acquaintances!

After their first year of university (at separate schools, once again!) they both went on a missions trip to Cambodia together. It was while traveling with the group from their church that Jing began to have feelings for Vincent. She tried hinting at her interest when the two of them were together — without being too forward — and Vincent didn’t seem to notice. Or worse, she wondered, maybe he did notice and wasn’t interested?

In hindsight, Jing and Vincent both know they were interested in each other that summer – but Vince didn’t feel ready to pursue Jing quite yet. He was taking a full course load at school and knew when it was time for a relationship, he wanted to pursue Jing well. There was no more talk of their mutual feelings between the two of them for three more years! Time passed, both moved on “in theory” but still thought of one another in the back of their minds.

In 2012, Vincent asked Jing out for coffee, just to catch up. She said yes, of course, and wasn’t expecting much from the time besides seeing a friend. Their immediate, easy connection once again surprised both of them – and felt comfortable and good. By the end of the date, Vincent expressed his regret in not pursuing Jing three years previous and how he still wished to do so now! Jing was shocked and now it was Vince’s turn to wait. ;) Hah! She waited three days before telling Vince, yes, let’s date!

I am so thrilled these two chose me as their wedding photographer. They are so sweet, so easy going and I really, really look forward to their Spring wedding next year! Enjoy!
