Rachel and Nate’s wedding day was incredible! The smokey haze that’s currently covering the Lower Mainland makes for terrible air quality, but the most beautiful golden light all day long. It feels like California light, soft and warm and pretty, and Rachel looked absolutely amazing in it. Photographing Rachel + Nate’s First Look was such a highlight, both of them were so bubbly and excited!
If a bride and groom has a First Look before the ceremony, I always ask them to slip on their wedding bands for portraits. (They are usually the only portraits you’ll have on the wedding day, and you obviously want to look ‘married’ in them!) Usually the couple just puts the ring on casually, but Rachel and Nate faced one another and put their partner’s ring on, like it was the ceremony. It was pretty funny.
Their whole wedding party was so photogenic and easy-going and I adore the Fall colour palette Rachel put together for an August wedding. The colours were so rich and went perfectly with the ‘Great Gatsby’ themed, 1920’s decor and feel of the day. It was a dream to photograph this day, with all of it’s amazing details! Enjoy the photos!

How great is this dress with that headpiece?
The shoes were perfect, too. Seriously, the coolest style!
I wasn’t joking about that gorgeous light.
I am kind of obsessed with this ring shot.
This next series of 3 are some of my favourite ‘post-ceremony’ moments ever.
This couch! These colours!
So many beautiful details, it was gorgeously put together!
I love these two photos!
SO beautiful I thought this was a staged affair for a wedding pictoral. Phenomenal job, Jamie! I think my favorite is that black and white of him embracing her and her smiling. They look SO joyful! Love the details, the dress, the setting. One of your best weddings yet!
