Aliisa & Dillon were married this past Saturday at The Vancouver Club ! It was so great to be their photographer and to see them again– as the last time was at their engagement session almost two years ago at Lighthouse Park. Aliisa and her bridesmaids prepared for the day with the help of Mink Makeup & Hair in the Georgian Room of The Vancouver Club –one of my favourite spaces in the historic building.

When the moment came for the ceremony in the beautiful University Room, you could feel the anticipation in the air! When Aliisa came around the corner and Dillon saw her for the first time, he couldn’t hold back his tears–and neither could Aliisa. The ceremony was very emotional, but also had so many great touches of humour, like when Aliisa laughed/cried so hard she snorted a little and then announced on the microphone, “I think I just snorted.” It was easy to see the bond these two have; it made me thankful for love! The love I have in my life and the chance to witness the love of others through their wedding days.

Every corner of The Vancouver Club is a dream to photograph in and the ballroom was elegantly decorated, as always, by the floral work of Nicola Adam Floral. The day was coordinated perfectly by Anna of Perfectly Flawless Events — thank you, Anna! Aliisa + Dillon’s speeches were a joy to listen to and I always love learning about my client’s families through the stories.

As a special presentation, Aliisa’s brother had been working for months on a half-hour slideshow that was a surprise to the couple! He had put together interviews from both sides of the family, incorporated with old family photos of their upbringing. It was amazing and you could see how much it touched Aliisa + Dillon to have that surprise!
