In May of 2016, Ellie and Nick met at the Vancouver International Airport when Ellie started a new job there! From the first moment Ellie met Nick, who was training her in the new role, she was “instantly enamoured.” She loved his patience, thoroughness, and passion for what he did!
Over the first year of working together, Ellie & Nick’s feelings for one another began to grow — and in February of the following year, Nick asked her out on a date to a tea shop!
After dating for a year and a half, Nick began to plan Ellie’s dream proposal. He subtly asked Ellie questions about her favourite home-cooked meal. She said, “Sushi!” and he said, “Something a bit easier to make…” Haha! She replied, “Okay, pho!”
On a Sunday afternoon after church, Ellie & Nick went back to Nick’s apartment “for lunch” and Ellie walked in to see it completely transformed, with candles lit! Nick got down on one knee while a song played in the background. (Lady Gaga covering “Your Song” by Elton John; a nod to Nick’s love of Elton John’s music and Ellie’s love of Lady Gaga.) And yes, after Ellie said “yes!” the two enjoyed Nick’s homemade-from-scratch pho!! (Impressive, right?)
I’m so thankful to have taken these engagement photos for Ellie and Nick! When Ellie emailed me in September to say “I’m engaged!” she screencapped a Facebook conversation from NINE years ago. I was in my second year of business, had recently graduated high school and Ellie was already following my work. She had written, “Just wanted to tell you that I adore your work, and that if I ever get married… I’ll definitely call you up.”
SO cool to hear from her again and make this dream happen! ALL the best to you both, thanks for being so fun to photograph. Enjoy your photos!
