Marie-Eve & Mike’s wedding day was very long-awaited. :) I was happy to receive their wedding inquiry back in January 2020, sharing their plans for a May 2021 wedding in West Vancouver. After officially booking their date, of course the world changed (just a little bit!) in March 2020–but that summer at their engagement session we all still felt hopeful for May 2021. 

I remember so clearly Marie-Eve and Mike saying, “No matter what happens, or how many guests we can have, we will be getting married in May!” I loved their intention to choose each other and their future marriage, over the wedding celebration. Even as restrictions tightened in BC from November onward (lasting up until end of June 2021!) when we talked on the phone in April, May was still the plan: no reception, 10 guests at the ceremony. It would be going ahead!

Until… the province brought in regional travel restrictions. They were so crushed! Mike’s parents live on Vancouver Island, and suddenly the plan they thought they’d never have to change–had to change. Even the most pared-down version of a ceremony wasn’t their dream without Mike’s parents in attendance. Ah, it was heartbreaking! Marie-Eve and Mike did their best to roll with the punches, and managed to coordinate July 31 with their venues and photographer (me, hehe) – and it turned out to be an AMAZING day.

After weeks of bright sunshine, Vancouver was blanketed in clouds (and humidity, with a sprinkle of rain) but it made the photos all-the-more special around Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver. I loved Marie-Eve’s bridesmaids dresses and how the blue popped by the sea, especially on a cloudy day! The day turned out so special, and I was thrilled for Marie-Eve & Mike that after their long long wait, they were able to celebrate with 60 guests over a dinner reception at Pinnacle at the Pier Hotel.
