In mid-November, I received an email from Cody, sharing his plans to propose to his girlfriend Allison on their holiday to Vancouver. It was going to be both of their first times in the city, and Cody thought Vancouver’s natural beauty would be the perfect background for this amazing moment in their lives! After meeting with Cody on a Zoom call, we decided Grouse Mountain would be a great background—and a spot that was already on their itinerary to visit during their time in Vancouver.
The winter season (in terms of weather and snow!) has been pretty slow this year in Vancouver… at first I was worried about the lack of snow up at Grouse, but thankfully the mountain still had a bit of snow on the ground. (Even if the trees weren’t covered!)
I arrived early to choose the spot, and secretly sent Cody a video and a map pin with an explanation. We kept in touch (covertly) so I’d know when Cody and Allison had reached the top of the mountain after taking the gondola. When Cody and Allison were in the right spot, Cody dropped to one knee and asked Allison to be his wife!
After Allison said “yes” and the couple hugged and kissed, I started walking toward them to introduce myself for the first time. As I approached, Allison reached into her pocket and pulled out her own “engagement ring” for Cody! She said “I’ve been carrying this around every day, so I’d have it when you proposed!” It was pretty cute, and a unique story for them to share.
Cody and Allison, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Vancouver and thank you for hiring me as your proposal photographer! Wishing you all the best in your future together.
