Engagement Session

Beach Engagement Photos

Kristen and Connor have one of the sweetest and most unique love stories! They met through Crossfit in Vancouver, where they both used to work out regularly – Connor sat down beside Kristen one day to stretch after their workouts and introduced himself. A few weeks later, Kristen asked another gym friend about Connor… and was disappointed to find out he was in a relationship. The two continued to see each other occasionally at the gym and months and months later, Kristen heard Connor was newly single.

Kristen shared their story on the beach during their engagement session, “Basically, I started working out a lot more consistently than I would have otherwise! Just to see Connor!” Halfway through her sentence, Connor leaned over and kissed the side of Kristen’s forehead as she laughed about their beginning. More than a year after their first introduction, these two started dating and fell in love quickly. They were talking marriage after only two months – they knew one another was “it” for them – partners for life.

I have to include this detail of their story because I think it’s so wonderful (and funny!) -Kristen graduated as a lawyer a few months into their dating relationship. A big party was thrown by the managing partners at her law firm to celebrate Kristen’s ‘official’ lawyer status after months of articling. The very next day, Connor and Kristen discovered they were pregnant! Talk about a whirlwind of emotions!

I told Kristen I laughed when we were communicating in the winter about their October wedding. She didn’t reply for about a week (which is so normal when people are planning weddings and making lots of decisions.) When she did, she said “Sorry for the delay in communication, I had a baby a few days ago, so I’ve been recovering.” I literally giggled at my computer. Uh, your delay is O-KAY! The beautiful Eva was born in January, two months after Connor proposed and I’m so looking forward to being their photographer for a destination wedding in Whistler this Fall.

Of course, now that they are a family of 3 and not just 2, we wanted to include Eva in the engagement session! We spent the first half of the photoshoot as a ‘family’ shoot and then Kristen’s Mom held Eva for the last half. Love what we captured, despite the crazy wind by the ocean. Kristen was a trooper with her long hair.

P.S. Kristen was a bridesmaid in one of my favourite clients weddings, Jessica and Scott, who just celebrated their 5th anniversary on Saturday!
