I loved Helen and Sam from the first time I met them over coffee this Spring. I loved their story how they met almost two years ago through a mutual friend – Helen was on her way over to dinner and Sam was just leaving a friend’s house. He had been there setting up her TV and computer. It was October 21, 2011. It was a “hi and bye” meeting, but Helen remembers Sam – a funny and outgoing guy. They were engaged a year and a few months after and are planning a September 2013 wedding. Sam and I actually went to the same private high school in Surrey, which we unexpectedly discovered at our meeting. I was very excited to see this beautiful couple again and photograph their engagement session late Wednesday evening in Vancouver. And ohhh, it did not disappoint.
It’s rare that I photograph in the “golden” sun light hours, but such a treat when it happens. We started the shoot at 8:30 and photograph until 9:30 with more than enough light. The session started at Emily Carr University on Granville Island, for a touch of modern. Then we booked it over to Kitsilano Beach Park for some preppy, oceanside portraits. Helen wrote that she wanted their photography to “capture natural moments [showing] the spark and love we share. I want it to show ‘us…’ to be fun and romantic, lots of joyful and happy moments.” H & S, I think we achieved that this week. ;)
You two are a joy to be with. September will be an awesome month. See you soon!
