Kathy & Joseph were married this past Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Kathy started the morning off with her four beautiful bridesmaids in a Rosewood suite. All the details were laid out and ready to be photographed, four dresses and three pairs of shoes for Kathy, not to mention Gemma, Kathy’s little dog. (Gemma made a cameo appearance at Kathy & Joseph’s springtime engagement session a few months ago.) After reading a heartfelt card (and a stellar gift, a beautiful lens) from her husband Joseph, Kathy was ready to dress in her traditional red Chinese gown and wait for the door games to begin.
I love door games. I’ve photographed many of them, and they are the funnest Chinese tradition. Basically, the groom and his men approach the door of the bride’s home, or in this case, hotel room. They are stopped by the bridesmaids and they have to act like crazy people and pay a lot of money to be able to see her. ;) Joseph got his girl after about twenty minutes of humiliation and the tea ceremony could begin.
The wedding ceremony took place in the Promenade of Rosewood Hotel Georgia and the florals and decor were top notch. Kathy looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in her wedding dress towards Joseph. After an hour of photographing in Kitsilano it was back to the ballroom for a grand entrance of the new Mr. & Mrs. // Kathy and Joseph, thank you so much for having me as your photographer! Appreciate you two and your story – and every minute of the 13.5 hours we were together Saturday. ;)
P.S. Kathy, thank you for that gorgeous necklace you gave me as a thank you. So beautiful.
