Roundhouse Community Centre Wedding

I have been oh-so excited to share Emma and Aaron’s wedding day since, well, the day after January 5th, 2013. Following the celebration, WedLuxe magazine picked up the story – all thanks to Emma’s marvellous vision and Corinne Colledge of Filosophi Events meticulous planning. We’ve all been waiting patiently for the new WedLuxe issue to be released on stands and then subsequently waiting for the story to be published by WedLuxe online. Now, everything is live and I’m free to share the story with you, my blog readers.

Emma and her bridesmaids prepared in the Presidential Suite at Sutton Place Hotel. All of the details were stunning. Emma’s dress was designed by Jenny Packham (purchased from Bisou Bridal), her pink pointed-toe stiletto heels by Manolo Blahnik and crystal headband by Jennifer Behr. Her four bridesmaids looked incredible in their long Monique Lhuillier gowns, Nine West nude heels, Tiffany & Co. bracelets, (a generous gift from the bride on the morning of!) and Blue Ruby earrings (also a gift from Emma!)

Emma was such a giggly, happy (although so peaceful and calm too!) bride on the morning of her wedding. I loved the “love” between her and her girls and mom. I loved watching the tears well up in Emma’s eyes as she read a note from Aaron. So much emotion.

I loved the opportunity to photograph a winter wedding. Winter is fun – it’s warm and cozy inside, chilly and brisk outside – and I think any bride who chooses a January wedding must have a laid-back personality. ;) During all Emma’s planning, the mantra was simply, “It’s going to rain.” Because if it doesn’t – we’ll be so excited. And it didn’t rain! It was overcast and even a little “bright” and not all that cold either! Oh Vancouver, you did well. Emma and Aaron’s ceremony was held at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church. Emma’s father, Rick Hansen (Canadian Paralympian and founder of the Rick Hansen foundation) accompanied Emma down the aisle towards her love, Aaron. The ceremony was magical. In the concluding moments, a candle was passed from the unity candle on stage to the front row. Every guest had a candle in hand and within moments the church was glowing. It was held during the final prayer and so, so beautiful.

I loved this moment. These aren’t the kind of images that would ever be featured in a magazine… but they are ones I love the best. A few moments after becoming husband and wife, Emma and Aaron and their families went into a side room. They hugged and greeted and then Emma and Aaron turned to one another. I believe Aaron’s words were “Oooh. Buttons. Wow. Cool.” (or something of the like.) I loved it.

So crazy that we were able to photograph portraits on the beach… in January. And look! You can see the mountains! Everything was so perfect – including the bouquets by Nicola Adam and Lisa Ujimoto of  West Coast Floral Growers.

I had never been inside of the Roundhouse Community Centre in Yaletown before but woahhh, this blank space (cement floors, wood beams) was absolutely transformed by Filosophi Events. I don’t know if I’m exaggerating, but there must have been close to five hundred candles? It was the warmest, most ethereal room. The draping and lighting was by Reel Silks, all candles by Wicks & Wax and linens by Chair Decor. Corinne, you outdid yourselfRoundhouse Community Centre Photos Roundhouse Community Centre Photos
